Groundwater monitoring technologies for catchment management [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
This paper reviews some technologies utilised for groundwater monitoring programs applicable mainly to shallow, unconfined aquifers; especially the monitoring, well design, drilling, pumping, purging and sampling aspects. The roles of program objectives,

Purging Compound for Polyamides and Ethylene Vinyl Alcohol Copolymers [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
This paper discusses the development of a new purge compound, Plexar' PX 909, which was designed to remove residual polar resins, such as polyamides, ethylene/vinyl alcohol (EVOH), and oxidized polyolefins or color concentrates which adhere to the ...

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Leakage-Controlled Horizon-Specific Model Selection for Daily Equity Forecasting: An Automated Multi-Model Pipeline

open access: yesForecasting
Short-horizon equity forecasting remains challenging because daily prices are noisy, heavy-tailed, and subject to structural breaks and regime shifts.

Can we throw information out of visual working memory and does this leave informational residue in long-term memory?

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2014
Can we entirely erase a temporary memory representation from mind? This question has been addressed in several recent studies that tested the specific hypothesis that a representation can be erased from visual working memory based on a cue that indicated

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Purging behavior in anorexia nervosa and eating disorder not otherwise specified:A retrospective cohort study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Purging behavior in eating disorders is associated with medical risks. We aimed to compare remission rates in purging and non-purging females with anorexia nervosa (AN) and eating disorder not otherwise specified (EDNOS) in a large retrospective single ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Correlates of the use of purging and non-purging methods of weight control in a community sample of women [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Objective: To inform the classification of bulimic-type eating disorders, the correlates of purging and non-purging methods of weight control were examined in a large community sample of young adult women reporting recurrent episodes of binge eating ...
