Nondestructive measurements of implant-bone interface shear modulus and effects of implant geometry in pull-out tests [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
Push-out and pull-out tests are used for destructive evaluation of implant-bone interface strength. Because nondestructive mechanical tests would allow maintenance of an intact interface for subsequent morphological study, we developed such a test to ...

Remote Assessment of Ataxia Severity in SCA3 Across Multiple Centers and Time Points

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Spinocerebellar ataxia type 3 (SCA3) is a genetically defined ataxia. The Scale for Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (SARA) is a clinician‐reported outcome that measures ataxia severity at a single time point. In its standard application, SARA fails to capture short‐term fluctuations, limiting its sensitivity in trials.

Analysis of push-out test data based on interfacial fracture energy

open access: yesJournal of Materials Science: Materials in Medicine, 1999
Push-out testing is frequently used to assess the interfacial shear strength developed at a bone-biomaterial interface during in vivo experiments. The aim of the present research was to assess the in vivo performance of a novel substrate/coating combination and to introduce a more rigorous fracture mechanics analysis of the push-out test data.

Numerical analysis of frictional contact effects in push-out tests [PDF]

open access: yesEngineering Structures, 2012
This paper proposes an accurate and efficient 2D nonlinear finite element model to investigate the mechanical behaviour of the shear connection between prefabricated concrete slab and steel girder in composite bridges. Beside material nonlinear constitutive laws and 4-noded plane elements, frictional contact finite elements are introduced in the model ...

Vestibular Patient Journey: Insights From Vestibular Disorders Association (VeDA) Registry

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Vestibular symptoms impose a high burden of disability. Understanding real‐world diagnostic and treatment pathways can identify care gaps and guide interventions. We aimed to characterize symptom profiles, diagnostic trends, provider involvement, and treatment patterns in vestibular disorders.

Experimental Study on Mechanical Behavior of Shear Connectors of Square Concrete Filled Steel Tube

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2017
In order to quantitatively evaluate the shear-bearing capacity of shear connectors of square concrete filled steel tube (CFST), push-out tests on 14 square CFSTs with shear connectors have been carried out. Among the 14 CFSTs, there are 13 specimens with

Indo-European languages tree by Levenshtein distance

open access: yes, 2007
The evolution of languages closely resembles the evolution of haploid organisms. This similarity has been recently exploited \cite{GA,GJ} to construct language trees. The key point is the definition of a distance among all pairs of languages which is the

Capital Flows to Emerging Market and Developing Economies. Global Liquidity and Uncertainty versus Country-Specific Pull Factors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
This paper investigates the empirical significance of push- and pull factors of different types of capital flows – FDI, portfolio and “others” (including loans) – to emerging market and developing economies.

Choroid Plexus Enlargement and USPIO‐Based Inflammatory Feature in Cerebral Small Vessel Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective The choroid plexus (CP) is a key component of the blood–cerebrospinal fluid barrier (BCSFB), but its mechanism of action in cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD) remains unclear. This study investigated CP volume (CPV) alterations and their association with conventional imaging markers in CSVD and explored the underlying role of ...
