Our integrative Mendelian randomization framework revealed that specific circulating metabolites exert causal effects on major depressive disorder, partly through immune‐cell–mediated pathways. These findings highlight metabolite–immune interactions as potential mechanistic targets for MDD prevention and therapy.

Characterisation of putrescine uptake by cultured adult mouse hepatocytes
Uptake of polyamines by cultured cells has been shown to be influenced by growth rate and/or differentiation. In this study, we have investigated whether the fully differentiated, non-proliferating adult mouse hepatocyte is capable of accumulating ...

Engineering tunable biosensors for monitoring putrescine in Escherichia coli
Biosensors can be a powerful tool for real-time monitoring of specific small molecules and for precise control of gene expression in biological systems. Thus, biosensors have attracted much attention for monitoring increasing number of molecules. However,

Abstract BACKGROUND Sucuk is a traditional Turkish dry fermented sausage, the quality and safety of which depend on physicochemical, microbiological, and biochemical changes during fermentation and ripening. Organic acids, their salts, and antioxidants such as ascorbic acid (AA) are widely used in fermented meat products; however, information about ...

Crystal structure of putrescine aspartic acid complex
Polyamines, putrescine, spermidine and spermine are ubiquitous biogenic cations believed to be important for a variety of cellular processes. In order to obtain structural information on the interaction of these amines with other biomolecules, the ...

Diet and temperature jointly shape the gut microbiome and host performance in amphibian larvae. In a multifactorial experiment with Rana temporaria, diet quality, rearing temperature, and heatwave exposure altered microbial communities and predicted metabolic pathways, while host health remained largely stable, suggesting microbiome plasticity and ...

BAHD acyltransferases drive metabolic diversification in plants by coupling conserved catalytic scaffolds with regulatory flexibility, enabling stress adaptation and ecological specialisation. ABSTRACT BAHD acyltransferases constitute one of the most versatile enzyme superfamilies in plants, catalysing the acylation of alcohols, amines, polyamines, and
