Putrescine biosensor based on putrescine oxidase from Kocuria rosea

The novel putrescine oxidase based amperometric biosensor selectively measures putrescine, which can be considered as an indicator of microbial spoilage. Putrescine oxidase (PUOX, EC 1.4.3.10) was isolated from Kocuria rosea (Micrococcus rubens) by an improved and simplified purification process.

Phytochemical analysis of the leaves of Aglaia gigantea collected in Vietnam yielded three cinnamoyl putrescine bisamide derivatives, which included the known compound dasyclamide ( 1), as well as two new natural products, gigantamide A ( 2) and grandiamide D ( 3). In this study, the structure of dasyclamide ( 1) was confirmed by X-ray crystallography.

Putrescine production by engineered Corynebacterium glutamicum

Here, we report the engineering of the industrially relevant Corynebacterium glutamicum for putrescine production. C. glutamicum grew well in the presence of up to 500 mM of putrescine. A reduction of the growth rate by 34% and of biomass formation by 39% was observed at 750 mM of putrescine. C.
