A study on the diagnosis of the Helicobacter pylori coccoid form with artificial intelligence technology

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2022
BackgroundHelicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is an important pathogenic microorganism that causes gastric cancer, peptic ulcers and dyspepsia, and infects more than half of the world’s population. Eradicating H. pylori is the most effective means to prevent

The impact of dioctyl phthalate exposure on multiple organ systems and gut microbiota in mice

open access: yesHeliyon, 2023
Dioctyl phthalate, commonly known as bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), is a widely used plasticizer in various industries and has been shown to directly or indirectly impact human health. However, there is a lack of comprehensive studies evaluating the

Clinical implications of lncRNA LINC-PINT in cancer

open access: yesFrontiers in Molecular Biosciences, 2023
Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) possess the potential for therapeutic targeting to treat many disorders, including cancers. Several RNA-based therapeutics (ASOs and small interfering RNAs) have gained FDA approval over the past decade.

Effects of cholesterol-lowering probiotics on non-alcoholic fatty liver disease in FXR gene knockout mice

open access: yesFrontiers in Nutrition, 2023
Background/aimsSome studies showed that probiotics could improve the composition and structure of gut microbiota. Changes in the gut microbiota may alter bile acid (BAs) composition and kinetics, improving non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD ...

Conserved binding mode but diverse interfaces of MreC‐PBP2 interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The crystal structure of abMreC reveals a conserved two β‐barrel architecture and provides structural insights into its role within the bacterial elongasome. The abMreC–abPBP2 complex model identifies the molecular basis of MreC‐mediated PBP2 recognition, contributing to the regulation of peptidoglycan synthesis.

Bacteria‐Responsive Nanostructured Drug Delivery Systems for Targeted Antimicrobial Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Bacteria‐responsive nanocarriers are designed to release antimicrobials only in the presence of infection‐specific cues. This selective activation ensures drug release precisely at the site of infection, avoiding premature or indiscriminate release, and enhancing efficacy.

A Pentaradial and Bilateral Combined Photoreception System in the Sea Cucumber is Mediated by a Blue Light‐Sensitive R‐Opsin

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The sea cucumber Holothuria leucospilota detects blue and adjacent wavelengths of light via an r‐opsin with a maximum absorption at 459 nm. In the oral tentacles, papillae, and tube feet, distinct light‐sensing structures with specialized morphologies are formed, constituting a unique pentaradial and bilateral combined photoreception system.

Transferable Deep Reinforcement Learning With Edge‐Contour‐Depth Fusion for Autonomous Wireless Capsule Endoscopy Navigation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents an anatomical landmark‐guided DRL framework for autonomous wireless capsule endoscopy navigation. Using a lightweight edge‐contour‐depth fusion module, it achieves over 97% coverage across diverse gastric anatomies. To ensure reliability, a two‐stage sim‐to‐real pipeline with an adaptive dynamic programming controller mitigates ...
