WFSuite: a Python software suite for X‐ray wavefront sensing and at‐wavelength metrology

open access: yesJournal of Synchrotron Radiation, EarlyView.
WFSuite is an open‐source Python suite for speckle‐based X‐ray wavefront reconstruction, offering both relative metrology and absolute phase modules. It streamlines wavefront characterization and feedback control for synchrotron and XFEL applications.WFSuite is a Python‐based software suite for X‐ray wavefront sensing and at‐wavelength metrology for ...

Small Object Detection Method for Bioimages Based on Improved YOLOv8n Model

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
This study proposes a small object detection method for bioimages based on an improved YOLOv8n model. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed approach effectively enhances detection precision, recall, and mAP50, offering a novel solution for the technical challenges in biological microscopy research.

Information and affective valence influence judgments of complexity, liking and understanding

open access: yesBritish Journal of Psychology, EarlyView.
Abstract Visual complexity is a key factor in perceptual and evaluative judgments. People's representation of visual complexity is constructed from quantitative and structural image features, but it is also influenced by familiarity and expertise. We examined how people represent visual complexity and its impact on perception and evaluation, focusing ...

The DNA/RNA autophagy protein SIDT2 as a novel neuropathological hallmark in Huntington disease

open access: yesBrain Pathology, EarlyView.
SIDT2‐immunoreactive inclusions are observed in the striatum, cerebral cortex, and hypothalamus in HD cases with different Vonsattel grades, and the frequency of SIDT2‐immunoreactive inclusions is associated with longer CAG repeats in the huntingtin gene.

Proteomic profile of CSF obtained at the time of diagnosis determines amyotrophic lateral sclerosis progression and survival: CXCL7 levels in disease prognosis and survival

open access: yesBrain Pathology, EarlyView.
Untargeted multiomic profiling of cerebrospinal fluid reveals that proteomic, but not lipidomic, signatures robustly distinguish ALS patients from controls and stratify individuals by survival, highlighting marked molecular differences between short survival and long survival disease.

Human brain matters: Navigating the neuropathology of COVID‐19

open access: yesBrain Pathology, EarlyView.
Severe COVID‐19 is associated with vascular dysregulation and chronic neuroinflammation, leading to axonal injury and neurodegeneration. In long COVID or PASC, persistent alterations in neuroimaging and biofluid biomarkers reflect ongoing neuronal damage and neuroinflammation, contributing to long‐term neurological symptoms including fatigue, cognitive

Comments to the “Letter to the Editor” for the manuscript titled “Increased expression of inflammasome signaling genes and proteins in selective brain regions in the intermediate stage of Alzheimer's disease”

open access: yesBrain Pathology, EarlyView.
Beta amyloid diffuse plaques, neurofibrillary tangles and neuritic plaques, are increased in densities at the intermediate stage of Alzheimer's neuropathological change. These pathological changes releasing Pathogen‐Associated Molecular Patterns (PAMPs) and Damage‐Associated Molecular Patterns (DAMPs).
