Coupling Aqueous Phase Chemical Actinometry with EPR Spectroscopy: An Approach for Probing Photochemical Processes at the Air–Sea Interface

open access: yesChemPhysChem, Volume 27, Issue 3, February 2026.
Photochemical investigations were coupled with radical detection for quantifying oxidative processes in sea‐surface microlayer (SML) samples. A chemical actinometry approach was employed to measure photon flux in in situ EPR experiments and under solar irradiation.

α‐Glucosidase Inhibitory Potential of Citrus reticulata Peel‐Derived Flavonoids—A Prelude for the Management of Type 2 Diabetes

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 2, February 2026.
Flavonoids derived from Citrus reticulate peel inhibit α‐glucosidase activity, delaying carbohydrate digestion and reducing glucose absorption, thereby indicating their potential as functional food components for type 2 diabetes management. ABSTRACT α‐Glucosidase inhibitors (AGIs) are compounds used to treat type 2 diabetes (T2D) by preventing the ...

Patulin Biodegradation by Rhodosporidiobolus ruineniae and Meyerozyma guilliermondii Isolated From Fruits

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 1, February 2026.
This study investigated the effects of incubation time and temperature, and initial patulin concentration on patulin removal rates, and the mechanism involved in patulin degradation by Rhodosporidiobolus ruineniae and Meyerozyma guilliermondii. The patulin degradation rate by the yeast strains was dependent on the three key parameters.

Synthesis of selected naturally occurring glucosides of volatile compounds. Their chromatographic and spectroscopic properties [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Naturally occurring glucosides of benzyl alcohol, (+/-)-menthol, (+)-borneol, thymol, carvacrol and eugenol were synthesized by the Koenigs-Knorr-Zemplen method (yields 19.5-52.2%). Their beta-D-glucopyranosidic structures were determined by one- and two-

Natural Products in Cancer Prevention and Therapy: Current Challenges and Future Directions

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 2, February 2026.
Natural products play a pivotal role in cancer therapy. They induce cancer cell death by reprogramming four metabolic pathways while precisely targeting the tumor microenvironment and immune cells. These compounds not only leverage novel delivery systems for innovative applications but also demonstrate unique therapeutic efficacy across clinical stages:

Photolysis at long wavelengths of amino acid ester derivatives based on 4-methyl-6-methoxy-2-oxo-2H-naphtho[1,2-b]pyrans [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Ester derivatives of fused 4-methyl-6-methoxy-2-oxo-2H- naphtho[1,2-b]pyran, using valine and phenylalanine as model bifunctional molecules were synthesised, to assess its applicability as a photocleavable protecting group, for solution phase organic ...

Quantifying the Electrophilicity of 9(10H)‐Phenanthrenone‐ and 1‐Acenaphthenone‐Derived α, β‐Unsaturated Ketones

open access: yesJournal of Physical Organic Chemistry, Volume 39, Issue 2, February 2026.
The electrophilicities (Mayr E) of the α, β‐unsaturated ketones A and B were determined by kinetic studies of their reactions with carbanions (reference nucleophiles) in DMSO at 20°C. The different reactivities of A and B were rationalized by DFT calculations.

Cleavages of photochromic compounds derived from heterocycles under electrospray tandem mass spectrometry : study of the influence of the heteroatom in fragmentation mechanisms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In this paper we report the fragmentation pathways of chromenes derived from carbazole, dibenzofuran and dibenzothiophene, under ESI-MS/MS experimental conditions, and their relationship with structural features, specially focused on the heteroatom’s ...
