Silver-Mediated [3 + 2] Cycloaddition of Alkynes and N-Isocyanoiminotriphenylphosphorane: Access to Monosubstituted Pyrazoles.

A silver-mediated [3 + 2] cycloaddition of "CNN" and "C≡C" for constructing pyrazoles has been described. The "CNN" building block used is N-isocyanoiminotriphenylphosphorane, which is a stable, safe, easy-to-handle, and odorless solid isocyanide.

Pyrazole (NSC-45410) is a low molecular weight, heterocyclic compound which has been considered for reevaluation in the clinic as a potential cytotoxic agent (Fig. 1). Discovered in 1893, pyrazole is best known as an inhibitor of liver alcohol dehydrogenase (ki = 0.2 uM), and as a result, has been used extensively in studies of alcohol metabolism.

Compound cis,fac-[Mo(eta3-allyl)(CO)2(Hdmpz)3]BAr'4 (1) (Hdmpz = 3,5-dimethylpyrazole, Ar' = 3,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)phenyl) undergoes rapid substitution of one of the pyrazole ligands by anions, including the low nucleophilic ReO4-, a reaction that afforded [Mo(OReO3)(eta3-allyl)(CO)2(Hdmpz)2] (2), structurally characterized by X-ray diffraction.

Pyrazole, 3(5)-methyl pyrazole and 3,5-dimethyl pyrazole complexes of tin(IV) halides

Abstract Complexes of tin(IV) halides with pyrazole, 3(5)methyl pyrazole and 3,5-dimethyl pyrazole of the type SnX4·L2 were prepared. All the isolated solids were non-electrolytes in acetonitrile. The IR spectra of the complexes (600–180 cm−1 were consistent with a trans-octahedral configuration in the solids state.
