Introducing the Cis‐2,3‐Bis(trifluoromethyl)cyclopropyl Chemotype: Late‐Stage Installation and Stereoelectronic Properties

The cis‐2,3‐bis(trifluoromethyl)cyclopropyl chemotype is introduced. The steric demand of this motif is intermediate between that of the heptafluoroisopropyl and prefluorotertbutyl groups; yet, it induces significantly less lipophilicity than these due to its facial polarity.

Highly Substituted 1,4‐Benzodiazepin‐2‐ones: A Rapid Modular Approach From Arynes and Unsymmetrical Imides

In this work, 1,4‐benzodiazepine‐2‐ones are synthesized starting from Kobayashi‐type aryne precursors and amino acid‐derived, unsymmetrical imides. Operationally simple protocols to access both the starting materials and the potential active pharmaceutical ingredients are presented.

Pickering or Non‐Pickering Dilemma: A Complicated System of Anionic Lignin‐Incorporated Oil‐Water Emulsions

Sulfoethylated and carboxyethylated lignin derivatives were fabricated, and their impacts on stabilizing soybean oil–water were analyzed in Pickering and non‐Pickering systems. It was noticed that the lignin derivatives behaved very differently, implying that the modification routes played an important role in their performance.
