Discovery of an intermediate phase in bis-thiourea pyridinium chloride inclusion compound

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2009
This paper reports the occurrence of a new phase for bis-thiourea pyridinium chloride inclusion compound, which is intermediate to the high- and low-temperature ones already reported. The structure of the intermediate phase was determined by the x-ray diffraction and the following sequence of space groups was obtained: Cmcm⟶237 KCmc21⟶206 KPbca.

Antiradiation Compounds XIII: 1-(Dithioacetic Acid)-Pyridinium Betaines

Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1970
Active mono-S-alkyl esters prepared from 1-(dithio-acetic acid)-pyridinium betaine (III) were found to be sufficiently stable for screening as radiation-protective agents, and e-withdrawing substituents in the pyridine ring gave stable betaines. Reaction of the methyl ester of III with phenacyl bromide and alkali resulted in S-alkylation to give a ...

REDUCTION OF PYRIDINIUM AND CARBONYL COMPOUNDS BY REFLUXING SODIUM DITHIONITE SOLUTIONS

Chemistry Letters, 1977
Abstract Sodium dithionite in refluxing MeOH–H2O was found to be an effective reducing agent for converting pyridinium ions to piperidines and carbonyl compounds to alcohols, respectively.

Electron density distribution in a thiourea pyridinium nitrate inclusion compound

Journal of Molecular Structure, 2006
Abstract The study presented has been focussed on characterization of electron density distribution in a thiourea pyridinium nitrate inclusion system [ ( NH 2 ) 2 CS ] 2 ( C 5 H 5 NH ) + NO 3 − by quantum chemistry (DFT) calculations.

The formation of pyridinium compounds by the reaction of halogens with dipyridine metal dihalides

Journal of Inorganic and Nuclear Chemistry, 1969
Abstract The compounds formed by the reaction of halogens with dipyridine metal halides in ethanol have been characterised. Their far i.r. spectra show them to be ionic pyridinium metal halide salts.

Orientation and Electronic Structure of Ion-Exchanged Pyridinium Compounds on Mica

Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 2002
Abstract Monomolecular films of hexadecyl-(HDP) and methylpyridinium (MP) ions were prepared on muscovite mica from aqueous solutions via ion exchange. Electronic structure and orientation in the adsorbed films were determined with near-edge X-ray absorption fine structure spectroscopy (NEXAFS).

Influence of acetyl-β-methylcholine, carbamoylcholine, and bis-pyridinium compounds on the activity of acetylcholinesterase

Biochemical Pharmacology, 1972
Abstract The decomposition rate of the substrate acetyl-β-methylcholine by AChE in presence of the antagonists TMB 4, ∗ toxogonin, † and HS 6 ‡ was measured in vitro . The results are compared with those of previous studies using acetylcholine as substrate.
