Efficient One‐Pot Synthesis of Benzothiazole Compounds From Vinamidinium Salts
A catalyst‐free one‐pot reaction of vinamidinium salts with benzothiazole hydrazines efficiently produces 1,3‐bis((3‐methylbenzo[d]thiazol‐2(3H)‐ylidene)hydrazineylidene)propan‐2‐ol (BBTA) and 1‐((1Z,3E)‐1‐(dimethylamino)‐3‐(((Z)‐3‐methylbenzo[d]thiazol‐2(3H)‐ylidene)hydrazineylidene)prop‐1‐en‐2‐yl)pyridin‐1‐ium (DMBT) derivatives. This simple method ...

Preparation of the Pyridinium Salts Differing in the Length of the N-Alkyl Substituent
Quaternary pyridinium salts with chains ranging from C8 to C20 belong in the large group of cationic surfactants. In this paper, the preparation of such cationic surface active agents based on the pyridinium moiety and differing in the length of the N ...

Alkaloid inspired spirocyclic oxindoles from 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of pyridinium ylides [PDF]
Cycloaddition reactions between pyridinium ylides and 3-alkenyl oxindoles that proceed in high yield and with very good regio- and diastereoselectivity are reported. The resulting cycloadducts have the same stereochemistry of biologically active oxindole

Water Co‐Adsorption in Ultrathin Films of Ionic Liquids on Pt(111)
At 100 K, IL adsorption on D2O precovered Pt(111) partially displaces interfacial water resulting in a water‐IL co‐adsorbed layer. Upon heating to 130 K, IL ions migrate to the metal interface, thereby destabilizing adsorbed water as shown by the ≈10 K reduction in its desorption temperature.

We introduce π–extended viologens with B‐N fused dipyridylanthracene (BDPA) as conduit for delocalization. Quaternization of pyridyl‐substituted BDPA by methylation or Lewis pair formation with B(C6F5)3 produces strongly colored compounds that are emissive in the near‐IR.

Bis[2-(2,4-dinitrobenzyl)pyridinium] biphenyl-4,4′-disulfonate trihydrate
In the structure of the title salt, 2C12H10N3O4+·C12H8O6S22−·3H2O, determined at 173 K, the biphenyl-4,4′-disulfonate dianions lie across crystallographic inversion centres with the sulfonate groups ...

Pyridinium N-heteroarylaminides: synthesis of N-heteroaryltetramines based on 1,6-bis(phenoxy)hexane and 1,3-bis(phenoxymethyl)benzene [PDF]
The synthesis of a set of new N-heteroaryltetramines is reported. A regioselective alkylation on the N-exo nitrogen of pyridinium N-(heteroaryl)aminide with the corresponding tetrabromo compounds, followed by a clean N–N bond reduction of the ...
