Total syntheses of agelamadin F and (±)‐tauroacidin A were achieved by sodium chlorite (NaClO2)‐mediated oxidative C─N coupling. Nine C15–N–amino acid‐substituted oroidin derivatives were successfully prepared to demonstrate the applicability and versatility of this oxidative coupling reaction.

Overcrowded Alkene Photo‐Redox‐Switches Based on Quinolinium/Carbene Building Blocks
A modular synthesis of a new class of photo‐ and redox‐switches is described based on the combination of quinolinium salts and carbenes. Photochemical switching allows to selectively switch between folded E/Z isomers, while electrochemical switching allows to change between neutral, radical cation and dicationic oxidation states, which are all isolable

An approach to prepare pyrido[2,1‐a]isoindoles via the cycloaddition of pyridine‐based 1,3‐dipoles and benzyne is described, offering modular access to a range of substituted products by systematic tuning of the dipole. A modular strategy for the synthesis of fused indolizine/isoindole hybrids, pyrido[2,1‐α]isoindoles, via cycloaddition of pyridine ...

Membrane‐targeted amphiphilic azobenzenes act as phototransducers to enable light‐driven modulation of various biological outcomes in bacteria. We find that systematic variation of cationic charge density and molecular asymmetry of these azobenzene photoswitches reveals how molecular design governs bacterial cell membrane association, photophysical ...
