Synthesis of naphthoquinone derivatives with some study on percentage rate of formation for pyridinium salt / Nor Shazana Mohamed Daud [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The focus of this study is to synthesize the naphthoquinone derivative via the reaction of pyridinium salt with methyl naphthoquinone. The starting material 2,4-dibromoacetophenone reacted with pyridine to produce pyridinium salt in 96.29% yield.

Late‐Stage Functionalization of Peptides on the Solid Phase

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, EarlyView.
Peptide modifications are essential to control pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic properties of peptide drugs. Consequently, strategies that allow for efficient and rapid incorporation of non‐canonical modifications into peptides in parallel formats are highly sought after.

2-[(E)-2-(4-Methoxyphenyl)ethenyl]-1-methylpyridinium iodide

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2013
In the title molecular salt, C16H10NO+·I−, the dihedral angle between the pyridinium and benzene rings is 6.61 (8)°. In the crystal, the cation is linked to the anion by a C—H...I interaction arising from the activated ...

Glutaconaldehyde as an Alternative Reagent to the Zincke Salt for the Transformation of Primary Amines into Pyridinium Salts

open access: yes, 2019
In the presence of amines, the degradation of glutaconaldehyde in acidic medium can be prevented. By exploitation of this behavior, primary amines are transformed into their corresponding pyridinium salts, including those substrates that remain ...

Overcrowded Alkene Photo‐Redox‐Switches Based on Quinolinium/Carbene Building Blocks

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, EarlyView.
A modular synthesis of a new class of photo‐ and redox‐switches is described based on the combination of quinolinium salts and carbenes. Photochemical switching allows to selectively switch between folded E/Z isomers, while electrochemical switching allows to change between neutral, radical cation and dicationic oxidation states, which are all isolable

Crystal structure of 2-(azaniumylmethyl)pyridinium bis(hydrogen squarate)

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E: Crystallographic Communications, 2017
The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C6H10N22+·2C4HO4−, comprises two hydrogen squarate (Hsq−; systematic name: 2-hydroxy-3,4-dioxocyclobutanolate) anions and a 2-(azaniumylmethyl)pyridinium dication.

Electron-deficient pyridinium salts/thiourea cooperative catalyzed O-glycosylation via activation of O-glycosyl trichloroacetimidate donors

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2017
The glycosylation of O-glycosyl trichloroacetimidate donors using a synergistic catalytic system of electron-deficient pyridinium salts/aryl thiourea derivatives at room temperature is demonstrated. The acidity of the adduct formed by the 1,2-addition of
