Exploring the pyridoxal 5′‐phosphate‐dependent enzymes
The Chemical Record, 2006AbstractPyridoxal 5′‐phosphate (PLP)‐dependent enzymes represent about 4% of the enzymes classified by the Enzyme Commission. The versatility of PLP in carrying out a large variety of reactions exploiting the electron sink effect of the pyridine ring, the conformational changes accompanying the chemical steps and stabilizing distinct catalytic ...

Inactivation of Rhodanese by Pyridoxal 5′‐Phosphate
European Journal of Biochemistry, 1975Pyridoxal 5′‐phosphate and other aromatic aldehydes inactivate rhodanese. This inactivation reaches higher extents if the enzyme is in the sulfur‐free form. The identification of the reactive residue as an amino group has been made by spectrophotometric determination of the 5′‐phosphorylated pyridoxyl derivative of the enzyme.

Thermodynamics properties of pyridoxal 5 phosphate
Journal of Solution Chemistry, 1986The ionization constants and heats of ionization of pyridoxal 5′ phosphate groups in the pH range 2–10 have been determined by potentiometric and calorimetric techniques at 20, 25, 30, and 37°C in 0.1M KCl.

Polarographic behaviour of pyridoxal 5′-phosphate
J. Chem. Soc., Perkin Trans. 2, 1977The polarographic reduction of pyridoxal 5′-phosphate in several NN-dimethylformamide–water mixtures has been investigated. It has been found that one, two, or three waves appear depending on the experimental conditions. The dependence of their half-wave potentials and the variation of their intensities with pH for each solvent were studied.

Publisher Summary The immobilization of pyridoxal 5'-phosphate (PLP) and pyridoxal 5'-phosphate-dependent enzymes on Sepharose is described in this chapter. Immobilized derivatives of PLP (pyridoxal 5'-phosphate) may be useful for the purification by the affinity chromatography of enzymes requiring this coenzyme.

Fluorometric assay of pyridoxal and pyridoxal 5′-phosphate
Analytical Biochemistry, 1979Abstract A new and very sensitive fluorometric method for the determination of pyridoxal and pyridoxal 5′-phosphate is reported. The specificity is based on the reductive amination of pyridoxal and its 5′-phosphate with methyl anthranilate and sodium cyanoborohydride at pH 4,5 to 5,0.

Enzymatic fluorometric assay for plasma pyridoxal 5′-phosphate
Clinical Biochemistry, 1991An enzymatic fluorometric assay to quantitate plasma pyridoxal 5'-phosphate (PLP) is described. PLP is preincubated for 30 min with purified tyrosine decarboxylase apoenzyme (TDA) in acetate buffer and is then incubated with L-tyrosine for 60 min. The decarboxylated metabolite, tyramine, is extracted into ethyl acetate, air dried, dissolved in borate ...
