Fluorometric assay of pyridoxal and pyridoxal 5′-phosphate

Analytical Biochemistry, 1979
Abstract A new and very sensitive fluorometric method for the determination of pyridoxal and pyridoxal 5′-phosphate is reported. The specificity is based on the reductive amination of pyridoxal and its 5′-phosphate with methyl anthranilate and sodium cyanoborohydride at pH 4,5 to 5,0.

Biomimetic Chirality Sensing with Pyridoxal-5′-phosphate

Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2017
Pyridoxal-5'-phosphate (PLP) is introduced to a biomimetic indicator displacement assay for simultaneous determination of the absolute configuration, enantiomeric composition and concentration of unprotected amino acids, amino alcohols and amines. The chiroptical assay is based on fast imine metathesis with a PLP aryl imine probe to capture the target ...

Spectrophotometric determination of pyridoxal-5-phosphate

Analytica Chimica Acta, 1959
Abstract A simple and specific spectrophotometric procedure for the estimation of pyridoxal-5-phosphate is described, based on the complete disappearance of the absorption maximum at 385 mμ following the incubation with potassium cyanide.

Biological role of carbamoyl pyridoxal 5′-phosphate

Comptes Rendus de l'Académie des Sciences - Series III - Sciences de la Vie, 1997
A new compound, carbamoyl-pyridoxal 5'-phosphate (C-PLP), was synthetized by condensation of pyridoxal 5'-phosphate (PLP) with KCNO. It may be obtained under certain physiological conditions of pH, temperature and concentration of reagents. Formation and degradation of C-PLP are readily reversible chemical reactions, not involving enzymes, at least in ...

Pyridoxal-5′-phosphate and pyridoxal biokinetics in aging Wistar rats

Experimental Gerontology, 1991
Biokinetic parameters of plasma pyridoxal-5'-phosphate (PLP) and pyridoxal (PL) disposition were studied in male Wistar rats aged 8 and 27 months kept from weaning on a purified diet containing 250 g casein and 6 mg pyridoxine.HCl per kg. Baseline plasma PLP concentration was lower in the older animals (514 +/- 56 nmol/L for young and 317 +/- 124 nmol ...

Interaction between Pyridoxal Kinase and Pyridoxal-5-phosphate-Dependent Enzymes

Journal of Biochemistry, 2003
The interactions of two pyridoxal-5-phosphate (PLP)-dependent enzymes, alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and glutamate decarboxylase (GAD), with pyridoxal kinase (PK) were studied by fluorescence polarization as well as surface plasmon resonance techniques. The results demonstrated that PK can specifically bind to ALT and GAD.

Polarographische bestimmung des pyridoxals und pyridoxal-5-phosphats

Journal of Electroanalytical Chemistry (1959), 1960
The estimation of pyridoxal together with pyridoxal-5-phosphate has been carried out by two polarographic methods. The first method is based upon the varying heights of the pyridoxal waves between ph 2 and 9. Since the height of the wave of the pyridoxal-5-phosphate practically does not alter with the ph, the decrease in the wave height of the mixture ...

Exploring the pyridoxal 5′‐phosphate‐dependent enzymes

The Chemical Record, 2006
AbstractPyridoxal 5′‐phosphate (PLP)‐dependent enzymes represent about 4% of the enzymes classified by the Enzyme Commission. The versatility of PLP in carrying out a large variety of reactions exploiting the electron sink effect of the pyridine ring, the conformational changes accompanying the chemical steps and stabilizing distinct catalytic ...

Antibodies against pyridoxal 5′-phosphate and pyridoxamine 5′-phosphate

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - General Subjects, 1966
Abstract 1. 1. The antigenicity of pyridoxal 5′-phosphate in rabbits was tested by immunization of the animals with the coenzyme coupled to bovine serum albumin. The coupling of pyridoxal phosphate to albumin, as well as to other proteins, was achieved by reduction (at pH 7·5) with sodium borohydride. 2. 2.
