AbstractNovel pyrimidine to pyrimidine transformation reactions are described. 1,3‐Dimethyl‐(or diethyl)‐uracil(1) are converted into isocytosine, 2‐thiouracil or uracil derivatives by treatment with guanidine, thiourea or urea, respectively.
