Mitochondrial dysfunction: Related diseases, influencing factors, and detection

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Medicine, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial dysfunction is implicated in the pathogenesis of numerous diseases, including neurological disorders, cancers, and cardiovascular conditions, through mechanisms such as mitochondrial DNA mutations, dysregulation of mitochondrial network dynamics, and impaired mitophagy.

Effects of Multiple Near‐Infrared LEDs (700, 850, and 980 nm) CW‐PBM on Mitochondrial Respiration and Gene Expression in MG63 Osteoblasts

open access: yesJournal of Biophotonics, EarlyView.
A multi‐wavelength near infrared LED light source (700–1100 nm) altered mitochondrial respiration and energy production in MG‐63 osteoblastic cells. This LED light source boosted gene expression of the osteogenic markers ALP, RUNX2, BMP, COL1, OPN, and OCN.

Silk Fibroin‐Based Hydrogels Supplemented with Decellularized Extracellular Matrix and Gelatin Facilitate 3D Bioprinting for Meniscus Tissue Engineering

open access: yesMacromolecular Bioscience, EarlyView.
To engineer meniscus tissue, a combination of silk fibroin, decellularized meniscus extracellular matrix, and gelatin is 3D bioprinted with infrapatellar fat pad‐derived mesenchymal stem cells. Cell addition is found to affect the enzymatic crosslinking and the mechanical properties of the hydrogels, whose Young's modulus matches with human meniscus ...

Mass Spectrometry Structural Proteomics Enabled by Limited Proteolysis and Cross‐Linking

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The exploration of protein structure and function stands at the forefront of life science and represents an ever‐expanding focus in the development of proteomics. As mass spectrometry (MS) offers readout of protein conformational changes at both the protein and peptide levels, MS‐based structural proteomics is making significant strides in the

PGC‐1α Activation by Polyphenols: A Pathway to Thermogenesis

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition &Food Research, EarlyView.
Polyphenols, derived from dietary sources such as berries, undergo digestion and interact with gut microbiota, leading to their metabolization in the liver. This process influences bile acid composition, which in turn activates PGC1α, a key regulator of mitochondrial biogenesis and thermogenesis.
