Ytterbium- and chromium-doped fibre laser: from chaotic self-pulsing to passive Q-switching [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
A spontaneously chaotic, self-pulsing ytterbium-doped fibre laser is partially stabilized into the passively Q-switched mode of operation using a chromium-doped saturable absorber fibre.

The effect of relative plasma plume delay on the properties of complex oxide films grown by multi-laser multi-target combinatorial pulsed laser deposition [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We report the effects of relative time delay of plasma plumes on thin garnet crystal films fabricated by dual-beam, combinatorial pulsed laser deposition.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Mode-locked diode-pumped vanadate lasers operated with PbS quantum dots [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The use of glasses doped with PbS nanocrystals as intracavity saturable absorbers for passive Q-switching and mode locking of c-cut Nd:Gd0.7Y0.3VO4, Nd:YVO4, and Nd:GdVO4 lasers is investigated. Q-switching yields pulses as short as 35 ns with an average

Electro-optic adiabatic wavelength shifting and Q switching demonstrated using a p-i-n integrated photonic crystal nanocavity

open access: yes, 2010
We demonstrate adiabatic wavelength shifting by electro-optic modulation using a p-i-n integrated high-Q photonic crystal nanocavity. The wavelength of the trapped light is adiabatically shifted by modulating the resonance of the cavity faster than the ...

Passive mode locking of a Tm,Ho:KY(WO4)(2) laser around 2 μm [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We report the first demonstration, to our knowledge, of passive mode locking in a Tm3+, Ho3+-codoped KYWO42 laser operating in the 2000-2060 nm spectral region.

Diode-pumped Alexandrite lasers in Q-switched and cavity-dumped Q-switched operation

open access: yesOptics Express, 2016
We present the first study of Q-switched Alexandrite lasers under continuous-wave diode-pumping with operation up to 10 kHz repetition rates in TEM00, with spatial quality M2 1.15. With a pulsed-diode dual-end-pumped design, pulse energy is scaled to a record level of 3 mJ.

Real‐World Performance of CSF Kappa Free Light Chains in the 2024 McDonald Criteria

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Kappa free light chains (KFLCs) in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) have a similar performance to CSF‐restricted oligoclonal bands (OCB) for multiple sclerosis (MS) diagnosis. To help with implementation, we set out to resolve several remaining uncertainties: (1) performance in a real‐world cohort and the 2024 McDonald criteria; (2 ...

PULSED KGd(WO4)2 RAMAN LASER: TOWARDS EMISSION LINEWIDTH NARROWING

open access: yesПриборы и методы измерений, 2015
The linewidth of a KGd(WO4)2 pulsed Raman laser is analysed experimentally for different configurations of the Raman and pump resonators: with narrow and broadband pump emission profiles, with and without linewidth narrowing elements in the Raman laser ...

Effect of Saturable Absorber Length on Characteristics of Dual Laser Pulses of Passive Q-Switched

open access: yesمجلة علوم ذي قار
The effect of saturable absorber material length on the characteristics of the dual passive Q-switching pulses generated from two wavelengths (  and ) instead of single wavelength was simulated.  Numerical solution of our previous rate equations model
