Characterization of Quail Pax-6 (Pax-QNR) Proteins Expressed in the Neuroretina [PDF]
After differential screening of a cDNA library constructed from quail neuroretina cells (QNR) infected with the v-myc-containing avian retrovirus MC29, we have isolated a cDNA clone, Pax-QNR, homologous to the murine Pax-6, which is mutated in the autosomal dominant mutation small eye of mice and in the disorder aniridia in humans.

Emerging sequence types of pathogenic bacteria have a dual ability to acquire resistance islands/determinants, and remain renitent towards disinfection practices; therefore, they are considered “critical risk factors” that contribute ...

Background: Multidrug resistance in Enterobacteriaceae including resistance to quinolone is dramatically increasing day by day. Widespread use of quinolones against Enterobacteriaceae has contributed to the rise of drug resistance. Resistance to quinolone is generally due to chromosomal mutations in genes coding for the target molecules of these agents,

In-vitro mutagenesis of qnrA and qnrS genes and quinolone resistance in Escherichia coli [PDF]
Plasmid-mediated quinolone resistance is being reported increasingly worldwide among isolates of enterobacteria. This resistance is mostly associated with Qnr-like determinants that confer resistance to quinolones, e.g., nalidixic acid, and reduced susceptibility to fluoroquinolones. This study investigated whether amino-acid substitutions in QnrA1 and

Characterization of fluoroquinolone resistance and qnr diversity in Enterobacteriaceae from municipal biosolids [PDF]
Municipal biosolids produced during activated sludge treatment applied in wastewater treatment plants, are significant reservoirs of antibiotic resistance, since they assemble both natural and fecal microbiota, as well as residual concentrations of antibiotic compounds.

Wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) harbor bacteria and antimicrobial resistance genes, favoring gene exchange events and resistance dissemination. Here, a culture-based and metagenomic survey of qnrA, qnrB, qnrS, and aac(6′)-Ib genes from raw sewage (RS)

Biomass‐derived hydrochars as eco‐friendly adsorbents for wastewater treatment applications
Abstract Emerging organic pollutants (EOPs), such as diethyl phthalate (DEP), bisphenol A (BPA), and methylene blue (MB), are only partially removed in conventional wastewater treatment plants. This study assesses hydrochars produced by hydrothermal carbonization (HTC) of spruce bark (SB), vine shoots (VSs), and wheat straw (WSs) for removing three ...

QNRs: toward language for intelligent machines
Impoverished syntax and nondifferentiable vocabularies make natural language a poor medium for neural representation learning and applications. Learned, quasilinguistic neural representations (QNRs) can upgrade words to embeddings and syntax to graphs to
