Metamagnetic transition based on the quadrupole moment in PrCu2

Physica B: Condensed Matter, 1996
Abstract The metamagnetic transition of PrCu 2 brings about the crystal distortion based on the magnetoelastic effect. We have studied in detail this transition through the magnetostriction, magnetoresistance and magnetization measurements.

Master equation for electric quadrupole transitions

Journal of Physics B: Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics, 1989
A master equation is developed, analogous to the Lehmberg-Agarwal equation, for the study of electric quadrupole transitions in atomic systems. This equation allows one to study the evolution in time of a system of atoms interacting with and via the radiation field in terms of the average values of atomic operators only.

Spin dependence of intrinsic and transition quadrupole moments

Physical Review C, 2005
The relation connecting an angular momentum dependence of the {gamma}-transition energies with the reduced transition probabilities B[E2;(I+2){sub gr}{yields}I{sub gr}] in the ground-state rotational band is derived based on the Bohr Hamiltonian. The relation is applicable to both {beta}-rigid and {beta}-soft both being {gamma}-rigid nuclei.

RADIAL MATRIX ELEMENT FOR THE QUADRUPOLE TRANSITION WITH THE MORSE POTENTIAL

Canadian Journal of Physics, 1952
A general formula for the radial part of the matrix element for the quadrupole transition with the Morse potential is derived using standard methods of analysis. The same methods can also be used to derive an expression for the radial part of the dipole transition matrix element.

QUADRUPOLE STRENGTH IN THE N→Δ TRANSITION

2001
The possibility of nucleon deformation raised more than 20 years ago 1 still remains an open one. The presence of resonant quadrupole amplitudes in the transition to the only isolated excited state of the nucleon is regarded as the definitive signature of deviation from the simplistic spherical models of the nucleon and/or the delta.

Electric quadrupole transitions in the beryllium isoelectronic sequence

Astrophysics and Space Science, 1983
Electric quadrupole transition probabilities for transitions between the 2s2, 2s2p, and 2p2 states in the beryllium isoelectronic sequence are evaluated using configuration interaction wavefunctions for 6≤Z≤26. It is found that the contribution from the electric quadrupole transitions is negligible and will not be an important process in any laboratory
