Infection Control Practices for Vascular Access Management in Hemodialysis: Results From a Nationwide Survey of Japanese National University Hospitals

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Bloodstream infections due to repeated vascular access (VA) puncture and circuit connections remain major concerns in hemodialysis. Therefore, we examined current practices for glove, disinfectant, and personal protective equipment (PPE) use according to VA type in national university hospitals in Japan.

Nutritional Potential of Ziziphus lotus (L.) Lam. Almonds as Compared to Some Oilseeds from Morocco: Evidence from Proximate Composition, Mineral Profiling, and Oil Physicochemical Traits

open access: yesJournal of Food Quality
Nowadays, there is a great interest in the search for new sources of vegetable oils, natural bioactive compounds, and essential nutrients for human health. Oleaginous fruits and seeds are a good source of nutrients such as oil, carbohydrates, fatty acids,

Therapeutic Apheresis in Nigeria: A Multi‐Center Summary of Abstracts From the Inaugural Nigerian Society for Apheresis Scientific Meeting

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Therapeutic apheresis (TA) is an established treatment modality for hematologic, neurologic, and immunologic disorders, yet access remains severely limited in sub‐Saharan Africa. Donor apheresis, including platelet apheresis collection from healthy donors, represents an important complementary modality supporting blood product ...

Standard operating procedure and quality control standards for age-related cataract in Guangdong Province

open access: yesYanke Xuebao
Age-related cataract is the leading blinding eye disease in the world, and surgery is the only effective treatment. The good recovery of vision after cataract surgery depends not only on the patients’ ocular conditions but also on the surgical technique ...

mRNA quality control [PDF]

open access: yesScience, 2016
DNA Events DNA is packaged into chromatin, and it must be actively unpacked, or remodeled, for genes to be transcribed into mRNA. That mRNA, synthesized in the nucleus, is also packed onto proteins, forming mRNA ribonucleoparticles (mRNPs). mRNPs are then shunted into the cytoplasm. Babour et al.

Prognosis of Long‐Term Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy and the Impact of Combined Continuous Intravenous Sodium Infusion Therapy

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Patients requiring long‐term continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) generally have poor prognoses. This study evaluated whether adding continuous intravenous sodium infusion (cIVNa) is associated with improved hemodynamics and outcomes in patients undergoing long‐term CRRT for ≥ 7 days.

Methodology of forming a model of diagnosis-related groups for cases of medical care using surgery performed by laparoscopic access

open access: yesФармакоэкономика
Background. A wide range of endosurgical treatment methods in various medical care profiles and the need for uniformity of calculations required developing a unified approach to the formation of diagnosis-related groups (DRGs) for cases of surgical ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

The nucleolus functions as a phase-separated protein quality control compartment

open access: yesScience, 2019
Phasing-in quality control in the nucleus The fundamental process of protein quality control in the nucleus is not well understood. The nucleus contains several non–membrane-bound subcompartments forming liquid-like condensates.
