Genetic mapping of quantitative trait loci in crops

open access: yesCrop Journal, 2017
Dissecting the genetic architecture of complex traits is an ongoing challenge for geneticists. Two complementary approaches for genetic mapping, linkage mapping and association mapping have led to successful dissection of complex traits in many crop ...

MAPPING GENES FOR QUANTITATIVE TRAITS USING SELECTED SAMPLES OF SIBLING PAIRS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
One of the most important research areas in human genetics is the effort to map genes associated with complex diseases such as cancer, heart disease, and diabetes.

Bayesian methods for genetic association analysis with heterogeneous subgroups: From meta-analyses to gene-environment interactions

open access: yes, 2014
Genetic association analyses often involve data from multiple potentially-heterogeneous subgroups. The expected amount of heterogeneity can vary from modest (e.g., a typical meta-analysis) to large (e.g., a strong gene--environment interaction). However,

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Integration of microsatellite (SSR) markers in Hevea spp. reference genetic map : a powerful tool for genetic analysis of qualitative and quantitative agronomic traits [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
In 2000, was published (Lespinasse et al. 2000) the 1st genetic map of rubber tree (Hevea spp.). This saturated map encompassed 717 loci, allowing an efficient coverage of the 18 chromosomes of the Hevea genome, and it can be considered as the reference ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Platelet glycoprotein VI genetic quantitative and qualitative defects

open access: yesPlatelets, 2019
Platelet membrane glycoprotein VI (GPVI) is increasingly recognized as an important receptor for thrombus formation and growth. Numerous arguments have been published indicating that GPVI plays a major role in thrombosis without being essential for ...
