Balanced Expression of the Diiron Oxygenase BioE Is Essential for Biotin Homeostasis in Elizabethkingia meningoseptica

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
BioE is a new diiron oxygenase that catalyzes the conversion of long‐chain acyl groups into pimeloyl thioester, initiating biotin synthesis. The overexpression of EmBioE disrupts lipid metabolic homeostasis, requiring repressor BioL to maintain a balance between long‐chain fatty acids and biotin synthesis.

Population differences in transcript-regulator expression quantitative trait loci.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
Gene expression quantitative trait loci (eQTL) are useful for identifying single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) associated with diseases. At times, a genetic variant may be associated with a master regulator involved in the manifestation of a disease ...

Genome-wide Identification of microRNA Expression Quantitative Trait Loci

open access: yesNature Communications, 2015
Identification of microRNA expression quantitative trait loci (miR-eQTL) can yield insights into regulatory mechanisms of microRNA transcription, and can help elucidate the role of microRNA as mediators of complex traits.

Temporal Transcriptional Regulation of Human Neuronal Differentiation via Forward Programming

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Single‐cell profiling of TF‐induced forward programming versus stepwise dual‐SMAD differentiation reveals that divergent trajectories set the pace of neurogenesis. OLIG TFs advance cell‐cycle exit via NOTCH modulation, while NEUROD2 later accelerates maturation. The study elucidates transcriptional mechanisms governing differentiation timing, providing

Quantitative trait loci markers derived from whole genome sequence data increases the reliability of genomic prediction.

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science, 2015
This study investigated the effect on the reliability of genomic prediction when a small number of significant variants from single marker analysis based on whole genome sequence data were added to the regular 54k single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP ...

Allelic Variation in Maize Malate Dehydrogenase 7 Shapes Promoter Methylation and Banded Leaf and Sheath Blight Resistance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this study maize chloroplastic malate dehydrogenase7 (ZmMDH7), is identified as a Rhizoctonia solani resistance gene in maize. ZmMDH7 is regulated by transcription factor ZmWRKY44 via pathogens challenge to elevate mitochondrial ROS and SA signaling pathway.

Identification of potential therapeutic targets for problematic alcohol use using multi-omics dataResearch in context

open access: yesEBioMedicine
Summary: Background: Problematic alcohol use (PAU) is a serious global health issue with limited treatment options. Although genetic studies have identified genomic regions associated with PAU, the specific causal genes and proteins remain unclear. This

Domestication of Tartary Buckwheat Shaped a Regulatory Module for Seedling Salt Tolerance by Targeting the Magnesium Transporter Gene FtMGT2

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Domestication of Tartary buckwheat is selected for a salt tolerance mechanism involving the magnesium transporter FtMGT2. Its expression is controlled by the FtAGL16‐FtMYB15L module, which is stabilized under salt stress through a competitive interaction that blocks its degradation by the E3 ligase FtBRG1, ultimately boosting Na⁺ efflux and plant ...
