Antioxidant and antiviral properties of Pseudopiptadenia contorta (Leguminosae) and of quebracho (Schinopsis sp.) extracts

open access: yesQuímica Nova, 2005
Proanthocyanidins from P. contorta leaves and from a commercial quebracho extract were isolated and characterized. Flavonoids, catechins and gallic acid were also identified in the extracts of P. contorta.

Studying the Rheological Properties of Non-Newtonian Fluids Under the Addition of Different Chemical Additives

open access: yesمجلة النهرين للعلوم الهندسية, 2020
This research study the rheological properties ( plastic viscosity, yield point and apparent viscosity) of non-Newtonian fluids under the addition of different chemical additives with different concentrations, such as (xanthan gum (xc-polymer) , carboxy ...

Inclusion of Quebracho tannin extract in a high-roughage cattle diet alters digestibility, nitrogen balance, and energy partitioning.

open access: yesJournal of Animal Science, 2020
Condensed tannins (CT) might improve animal and system-level efficiency due to enhanced protein efficiency and reduced CH4. This study evaluated the impact of quebracho tannin (QT) extract fed at 0, 1.5, 3, and 4.5% of DM, within a roughage-based diet on

Morphological alterations in salivary glands of mice (Mus musculus) submitted to tannin enriched diets: comparison with sialotrophic effects of sympathetic agonists stimulation

open access: yesArquivo Brasileiro de Medicina Veterinária e Zootecnia, 2010
In order to study the effects of tannins at histomorphological level, mice were either fed with three structurally different types of tannins (tannic acid, chestnut, and quebracho) or treated with isoproterenol, during 10 days.

Evaluation of Dietary Administration of Chestnut and Quebracho Tannins on Growth, Serum Metabolites and Fecal Parameters of Weaned Piglets

open access: yesAnimals, 2020
Simple Summary In pig livestock, alternatives to in-feed antibiotics are needed to promote health status and to control enteric infections. Plant extracts containing biologically-active molecules may influence animal metabolism and performance, therefore

Nocturnal Lepidopterans as Essential Pollinators of Aspidosperma pyrifolium (Apocynaceae), a Keystone Tree in the Caatinga Dry Forest

open access: yesJournal of Applied Entomology, Volume 150, Issue 3, Page 351-363, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Pollination is a key ecosystem service, yet most studies focus on diurnal interactions, often overlooking nocturnal pollinators such as hawkmoths and settling moths. In arid environments, nocturnal pollination plays a crucial role in maintaining native plant species of high biocultural value, as seen in the Caatinga dry forest.
