Optimization of Graphene Oxide-based Quencher-free Molecular Beacon for Meat Product Authentication

open access: yesPakistan Journal of Biological Sciences, 2019
Sensitivity is very important in DNA detection. Various attempts have been made to increase detection sensitivity, including increasing the detection capabilities of devices and using DNA probes. This study was aimed to develop a DNA detection method using a quencher-free molecular beacon (QFMB) probe with the help of graphene oxide (GO) as a quencher ...

Multiplexed detection of SARS-CoV-2 based on upconversion luminescence nanoprobe/MXene biosensing platform for COVID-19 point-of-care diagnostics

open access: yesMaterials & Design, 2022
Multiplexed detection is essential in biomedical sciences since it is more efficient and accurate than single-analyte detection. For an accurate early diagnosis of COVID-19, a multiplexed detection strategy is required to avoid false negatives with the ...

Probing the stable G-quadruplex transition using quencher-free end-stacking ethynyl pyrene–adenosine [PDF]

open access: yesChem. Commun., 2007
Pyrene-modified adenosines in the dangling positions of G-rich oligodeoxynucleotides undergo pi-stacking in their G-quadruplex formation, but not in their single strands, which can be characterized by fluorescence lambda(max) changes that occur on stacking.

Effect of Anthocyanin-Enriched Brine on Nutritional, Functional and Sensory Properties of Pickled Baby Corn

open access: yesPlants, 2023
Considering the great potential of black soybean seed coat as a source of bioactive compounds, the objective of this study was to investigate the effect of anthocyanin-rich brine from the seed coat on functional properties of pickled baby corn, as well ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Fabrication of quencher-free liquid scintillator-based, high-activity 222Rn calibration sources for the Borexino detector [PDF]

open access: yesNuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 2018
A reliable and consistently reproducible technique to fabricate $^{222}$Rn-loaded radioactive sources ($\sim$0.5-1 kBq just after fabrication) based on liquid scintillator (LS), with negligible amounts of LS quencher contaminants, was implemented. This work demonstrates the process that will be used during the Borexino detector's upcoming calibration ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

New organic PVC photo-stabilizers derived from synthesised novel coumarine moieties

open access: yesMaterials Science for Energy Technologies, 2022
New four coumarin derivatives (9–12) compounds have been successfully synthesized from the reaction of salicyaldehyde and ethylacetoacetate yielding 3-acetyl coumarine, which on further treatment with bromine/chloroform gave 3-(2-Bromoacetyl) coumarine ...

Mixed‐class J‐domain protein scaffolds promote expanded aggregate handling and multivalent Hsp70 engagement during functional disaggregase assembly

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein aggregates threaten proteostasis and cell health. In human cells, Hsp70–J‐domain protein‐based disaggregases remove aggregates, but how they assemble remains unclear. Our biochemical findings show that DNAJA2‐ and DNAJB1‐containing disaggregase scaffolds enhance luciferase aggregate targeting, and that Hsp70 recruitment by both J‐domain ...

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...
