Dehydration of Quinate Derivatives: Synthesis of a Difluoromethylene Homologue of Shikimic Acid
Synlett, 2002An optimised procedure for the conversion of a quinate to shikimate structure has been developed using Martin's Sulfurane {Ph2S[OC(CF3)2Ph]2}. This protocol has been exploited in the synthesis of a novel difluoromethylene homologue of shikimic acid.

Utilization of quinate andp-hydroxybenzoate by actinomycetes: key enzymes and taxonomic relevance
Journal of Basic Microbiology, 1998474 strains of the actinomycete genera Streptomyces (including species of the former genera Chainia and Streptoverticillium), Pseudonocardia and Micromonospora were examined for their ability to degrade quinate (Q) and p-hydroxybenzoate (pHB); selected strains were also tested for their capacity to catabolize benzoate (B).

The quinate dehydrogenase (QDH) from Gluconobacter oxydans IFO3244 exhibits high affinity for quinate, suggesting its application in shikimate production. Nucleotide sequence analysis of the qdh gene revealed a full-length of 2475-bp encoding an 824-amino acid protein. The qdh gene has the unusual TTG translation initiation codon. Conserved regions and

Abstract A rapid method for the purification of hydroxycinnamoyl CoA quinate hydroxycinnamoyl transferase (CQT) from potato tubers which had been stored at low temperatures is described. The method involves affinity chromatography on Blue Sepharose with biospecific desorption of CQT with its substrate, CoA. Elution of the Blue Sepharose column with a

Gluconobacter oxydans produces 3-dehydroquinate by oxidation of quinate through a reaction catalyzed by the quinate dehydrogenase (QDH), membrane-bound, pyrroloquinoline quinone (PQQ)-dependent dehydrogenase. We previously reported the nucleotide and deduced amino acid sequence of QDH and constructed a heterologous expression system of QDH in ...

Purification and characterization of the quinate: Oxidoreductase from Phaseolus mungo sprouts
Phytochemistry, 1993Abstract A quinate: oxidoreductase which catalyses the interconversion of (−)-quinic acid and 3-dehydroquinic acid, was extracted from the homogenate of Phaseolus mungo sprouts bought from a supermarket and purified by ammonium sulphate fractionation, anion exchange (DEAE-cellulose), hydrophobic interaction (Phenyl-Sepharose), affinity (Blue ...
