Estimating the Effects of Global Patent Protection in Pharmaceuticals: A Case Study of Quinolones in India [PDF]
Under the TRIPS agreement, WTO members are required to enforce product patents for pharmaceuticals. The debate about the merits of this requirement has been extremely contentious. Many low income economies claim that patent protection for pharmaceuticals

IMP‐1700 enhances the cytotoxic effect on bacteria in combination with either ciprofloxacin (CPX) or X‐ray. In noncancerous and tumor cells, combination treatments markedly reduce viability with radiosensitizing effects. Further studies are needed to clarify the mechanism underlying IMP‐1700s effects on mammalian cells. Created in BioRender. Kjaer, A. (

Medicare Part D and Hospital Admissions due to Antimicrobial Resistance
ABSTRACT Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) has been increasing rapidly in the United States despite government efforts to contain its spread. Both under‐utilization and overuse of prescribed antimicrobials contribute to rising resistance. The introduction of Medicare Part D in 2006 expanded prescription drug coverage for the elderly, including coverage ...

Advances in immunoassay methods for quinolones
Quinolones (QNs) are highly favored for their broad-spectrum antibacterial effects. However, the overuse of QNs in animal feed can lead to their residues entering the food chain, thus posing potential hazards to the environment and human health.

Reusing organic waste materials, such as animal manure, as soil amendments reduces water and fertiliser demand, contributing to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. However, organic wastes may contain contaminants of emerging concern (CECs), posing potential ecosystem and human health risks. Despite the importance of this issue, there is a lack

Tibetan pig farms host diverse Escherichia coli strains that resist multiple antibiotics and carry important disease genes, such as astA. These traits jump easily between bacterial groups, marking intensive pig production as a key reservoir and signalling the need for integrated animal–human surveillance and more careful antibiotic use.

Abstract Background G protein‐coupled receptors are a large and functionally diverse family of membrane receptors involved in a number of biological processes. Like other proteins, G protein‐coupled receptors need to be properly folded in order to traffic to the plasma membrane and interact with agonist.
