A Biomimetic Buffering Hydrogel Scaffold for Long‐Term Culture of Patient‐Derived Tumor Organoids
A biomimetic fibrous buffering hydrogel controls the local acidification at the tumoroid/hydrogel interface at the physiologically relevant level over 21‐day culture. The buffering effect promotes cancer cell proliferation in the tumoroids and supports the structural integrity and mechanical properties of the hydrogel scaffold over long‐term tumoroid ...

We extend a previously presented mesoscopic (i.e. colony scale) mathematical model of the reaction of bacterial biofilms to antibiotics. In that earlier model, exposure to antibiotics evokes two responses: inactivation as the antibiotics kill the ...

Background Quorum sensing (QS) system can regulate the expression of virulence factors and biofilm formation in Streptococcus mutans . Antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (aPDT) inhibits quorum quenching (QQ), and can be used to prevent microbial biofilm.

Engineered microparticle topographies direct human mesenchymal stem cell osteogenesis without biochemical additives. This osteogenic commitment is driven by canonical Hedgehog signaling and followed by temporal IGF‐II engagement. Two‐photon polymerization demonstrates spatial control, enabling the engineering of topographical gradients that pattern ...

Bacteria‐Responsive Nanostructured Drug Delivery Systems for Targeted Antimicrobial Therapy
Bacteria‐responsive nanocarriers are designed to release antimicrobials only in the presence of infection‐specific cues. This selective activation ensures drug release precisely at the site of infection, avoiding premature or indiscriminate release, and enhancing efficacy.

Chemical molecules are used by microorganisms to communicate with each other. Quorum sensing is the mechanism through which microorganisms regulate their population density and activity with chemical signaling.

Mechanical loading induces a previously unrecognized Sox9+Acan+ transitional mesenchymal cell population in the periodontal ligament that promotes osteoclastogenesis via the FGF2–FGFR2–ERK axis. Targeting this mechanoresponsive stromal population using a localized GelMA@siRNA delivery strategy attenuates pathological osteoclast overactivation and root ...

To address multidrug‐resistant urinary tract infections (MDR‐UTIs), we developed Cu‐ZIF8‐Ru nanozyme featuring an asymmetric Cu─N─Ru catalytic site. This unique structure enhances multienzyme‐mimetic activity, eradicating resistant bacteria by inducing a cuproptosis‐like death pathway through intracellular Cu2+ accumulation and energy depletion.
