A novel magnetically separable pH sensitive surface‐active iron oxide nanoparticles for the removal of antibiotics (tetracycline) from aquatic environments

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Sources and distribution of antibiotic contamints in the environments. Abstract This research examines the application of magnetic iron‐oxide (Fe3O4) nanoparticles (IONPs) for the targeted removal and recovery of tetracycline (TC) from aqueous systems.

Quorum sensing in the genus Burkholderia

open access: yesInternational Journal of Medical Microbiology, 2006
The genus Burkholderia contains over 30 species, many of which are important human pathogens. In addition to the primary pathogens Burkholderia pseudomallei and Burkholderia mallei, several species have emerged as opportunistic pathogens in persons suffering from cystic fibrosis (CF) and immunocompromised individuals.

Initial Stages of Gas Diffusion Electrode Flow‐Cell CO2 Electrolysis—Monitoring via Synergetic Online Mass Spectrometry and Rapid Sample‐Trapping Gas Chromatography

open access: yesChemistry–Methods, EarlyView.
This study introduces a synergistic mass‐spectrometry and sample‐trapping gas chromatography method to monitor product gas composition during dynamic CO2 electrolyzer operation. It reveals how electrode–electrolyte interfaces influence the establishment of reaction equilibria at gas diffusion electrodes.

Pharmacokinetics, Safety, and Skin Irritation and Sensitization Potential of Clascoterone Cream in Early‐Phase Clinical Study Participants

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology in Drug Development, EarlyView.
Abstract Clascoterone is an androgen receptor inhibitor approved for the treatment of acne vulgaris in patients 12 years of age and older. Here, we report results of 5 phase 1 studies that assessed the pharmacokinetics (PK), safety, and skin irritation and sensitization potential of clascoterone cream 1% in healthy participants and patients with acne ...

The Function of Cyclo(Phe-Pro) in Gene Expression of Vibrio Harveyi [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Vibrio harveyi is a bioluminescent bacterium and the organism in which quorum sensing was discovered. It was recently found that a class of molecules, cyclic dipeptides, may be a new kind of quorum sensing signal that may affect other species in the ...

Redefining the Skin Barrier: A Microbiome‐Integrated Multilayered Defense Model

open access: yesBarrier Immunity, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The skin constitutes a dynamic interface orchestrating a sophisticated multilayered defense system comprising physical, chemical, immune, and microbial barriers. This review synthesizes current understanding of the structural and functional integration of these barriers, emphasizing their synergistic interactions in maintaining cutaneous ...

Autopsy findings in cases of fatal COVID‐19 vaccine‐induced myocarditis

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, EarlyView.
Abstract COVID‐19 vaccines have been linked to myocarditis, which, in some circumstances, can be fatal. This systematic review aims to investigate potential causal links between COVID‐19 vaccines and death from myocarditis using post‐mortem analysis.
