Parameter Estimation and Uncertainty Quantication for an Epidemic Model [PDF]
We examine estimation of the parameters of Susceptible-Infective-Recovered (SIR) models in the context of least squares. We review the use of asymptotic statistical theory and sensitivity analysis to obtain measures of uncertainty for estimates of the ...

Chirality and Organization of Adsorbates Modify Surface Phonon Dynamics
Chirality and molecular organization are shown to influence surface phonon dynamics in gold films. Time‐resolved Joule heating measurements reveal that ordered homochiral monolayers increase the Debye temperature and disordered layers reduce it, while ordered racemic controls have no effect.

One- and many-body effects on mirages in quantum corrals
Recent interesting experiments used scanning tunneling microscopy to study systems involving Kondo impurities in quantum corrals assembled on Cu or noble metal surfaces. The solution of the two-dimensional one-particle Schrodinger equation in a hard wall

Coagulative granular hydrogels are composed of packed thrombin‐functionalized microgels that catalyze the conversion of fibrinogen into a secondary fibrin network, filling the interstitial voids. This bio‐inspired approach stabilizes the biomaterial to match the robustness of bulk hydrogels without compromising injectability, mimicking the initial ...

Analysis of the Diffusion SIR Epidemic Model With Networked Delay and Nonlinear Incidence Rate
This paper is concerned with the qualitative analysis of a diffusion SIR epidemic model with networked delay and nonlinear incidence rate. First, we prove the existence and uniqueness of the model by using the method of upper and lower solutions.

The Effect of Large Scale Magnetic Field on Outflow in ADAFs: an Odd Symmetry Configuration
We construct self-similar inflow-outflow solutions for a hot viscous-resistive accretion flow with large scale magnetic fields that have odd symmetry with respect to the equatorial plane in $B_\theta$, and even symmetry in $B_r$ and $B_\phi$.

This review highlights recent advances in smart face masks that actively monitor breathing. By integrating humidity, gas, temperature, pressure, strain, and triboelectric sensors, these masks track key respiratory parameters in real time. The article summarizes sensor mechanisms, compares performance across studies, and discusses challenges and future ...
