An experimental study of flow boiling heat transfer of zeotropic mixture R32/R134a in a microchannel heat exchanger [PDF]

open access: diamond, 2021
This paper deals with the thermophysical properties of R32/R134a mixtures. A computer code has been developed based on widely acceptable correlations for property predictions. The fundamental problem of the vapor-liquid equilibrium relationship is solved by using related activity and fugacity coefficients.

Experimental study of an R1234ze(E)/R134a mixture (R450A) as R134a replacement [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Refrigeration, 2015
This work presents an experimental analysis of a non-flammable R1234ze(E)/R134a mixture (R450A) as R134a drop-in replacement. While R134a has a high GWP value (1430), the R450A GWP is only 547. The experimental tests are carried out in a vapour compression plant equipped with a variable-speed compressor.

The viscosity of liquid R134a [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Thermophysics, 1993
The paper reports new measurements of the viscosity of liquid R134a over the temperature range 235 to 343 K and pressures up to 50 MPa. The measurements have been carried out in a vibrating-wire viscometer calibrated with respect to the viscosity of several liquid hydrocarbons. It is estimated that the uncertainty in the viscosity data reported is ±0.6%

Theoretical assessment of new low global warming potential refrigerant mixtures as eco-friendly alternatives in domestic refrigeration systems

open access: yesScientific African, 2020
Refrigerants of low global warming potentials (GWPs) of ≤ 150 are required by regulations as working fluids in domestic refrigeration systems. Therefore, this study theoretically investigated the performance of five new refrigerant mixtures (R440A, R441A,

Experimental assessment of alternative low global warming potential refrigerants for automotive air conditioners application

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering, 2020
R134a, one of the most commonly used refrigerants especially for air conditioning (AC) systems, will be banned in automotive air conditioners after 2022 due to a high global warming potential (GWP).

Cycle performance evaluation of various R134a/hydrocarbon blend refrigerants applied in vapor-compression heat pumps

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2019
Blend refrigerants combing hydrofluorocarbons and hydrocarbons are good substitutes to decrease the flammability of hydrocarbons while reducing the global warming potential of hydrofluorocarbons.
