Sustainable Thermal Solutions: Enhancing Heat Transfer with Turbulators and Nanofluids

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, Volume 6, Issue 5, May 2025.
Nanofluids, which are nanoparticle suspensions in base fluid, facilitate heat transmission due to their improved thermal conductivity. Turbulators, which are inserts into fluid flow channels, disturb the flow, increasing turbulence and hence the heat transfer rate.

Organic rankine cycle with positive displacement expander and variable working fluid composition [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Organic Rankine Cycles are often used in the exploitation of low-temperature heat sources. The relatively small temperature differential available to these projects makes them particularly vulnerable to changing ambient conditions, especially if an air ...

Carbon Dioxide Heat Transfer Coefficients And Pressure Drops During Flow Boiling: Assessment Of Predictive Methods [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Among the alternatives to the HCFCs and HFCs, carbon dioxide emerged as one of the most promising environmentally friendly refrigerants. In past years many works were carried out about CO2 flow boiling and very different two-phase flow characteristics ...

Energy and Exergy Efficiency Analysis of an Ejector‐Expansion Refrigeration Cycle Using the Working Fluid R134a and Its Potential Substitutes

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, Volume 13, Issue 5, Page 2389-2400, May 2025.
ABSTRACT This paper proposes an ejector‐expansion refrigeration cycle (EERC) with two evaporating temperatures to recover partial expansion work and greatly reduces the throttling loss of the other expansion valve connected to the evaporator compared with the conventional bievaporator refrigeration cycle (CBEC).

A Correlation‐Based Prediction Method of Heat Transfer Coefficients for Flooded Evaporation on Enhanced Tubes

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, Volume 97, Issue 1-2, Page 43-50, February 2025.
An enhanced tube which is optimized for pool boiling was examined with the refrigerants R134a, R1234ze(E), and propane. The measured heat transfer coefficient is compared to literature‐based correlations and also the transferability. For a better prediction of the shell‐side heat transfer coefficient a new correlation is proposed.

Two-phase heat transfer in small passages and microfinned surfaces - Fundamentals and applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Micro channels and internally finned tubes are increasingly being utilized in the evaporators and condensers of refrigeration systems. The adoption of such geometries in the development of micro-cooling systems is first discussed in this paper.
