Developing evidence‐based, cost‐effective P4 cancer medicine for driving innovation in prevention, therapeutics, patient care and reducing healthcare inequalities

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The cancer problem is increasing globally with projections up to the year 2050 showing unfavourable outcomes in terms of incidence and cancer‐related deaths. The main challenges are prevention, improved therapeutics resulting in increased cure rates and enhanced health‐related quality of life.

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Optimization of superconducting antenna arrays using RBF neural network [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal for Simulation and Multidisciplinary Design Optimization, 2010
In this work, RBF neural network is used to optimize the radiation pattern of non-uniform linear arrays of High superconducting rectangular microstrip antennas, on uniaxial anisotropic substrate.

How the Universe got its Spots [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
The universe displays a three-dimensional pattern of hot and cold spots in the radiation remnant from the big bang. The global geometry of the universe can be revealed in the spatial distribution of these spots.

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

Characterization of Acoustic Sources by Optical Feedback Interferometry

open access: yesProceedings, 2017
Sound can be described as the propagation of pressure variations in compressible media that involves compression and expansion and induces a change in the density of the medium.

Targeting p38α in cancer: challenges, opportunities, and emerging strategies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
p38α normally regulates cellular stress responses and homeostasis and suppresses malignant transformation. In cancer, however, p38α is co‐opted to drive context‐dependent proliferation and dissemination. p38α also supports key functions in cells of the tumor microenvironment, including fibroblasts, myeloid cells, and T lymphocytes.

Classical Disordered Ground States: Super-Ideal Gases, and Stealth and Equi-Luminous Materials

open access: yes, 2008
Using a collective coordinate numerical optimization procedure, we construct ground-state configurations of interacting particle systems in various space dimensions so that the scattering of radiation exactly matches a prescribed pattern for a set of ...
