Boosting Conversion Efficiency in Zn3P2/InP Solar Cells Via Nanoscale Junction Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates the efficacy of selective area epitaxy (SAE) in enhancing the conversion efficiency of a Zn3P2${\rm Zn}_3{\rm P}_2$/InP heterojunction solar cell. The impact of the SAE pattern dimensions on the performance parameters is investigated. Small size opening limits Jsc because of current crowding whereas large size opening limits Voc

Challenges for radiative transfer 1: towards the effective solution of conjugate heat transfer problems

open access: yes, 2018
This paper lists crucial challenges in radiative transfer with the objective of gathering information on improving and choosing methods for solving conjugate heat transfer problems.

Confinement‐Engineered Thermally Programmed Ion‐Gating Separator for Decoupling Thermal–Electrochemical Feedback in High‐Energy Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A new phase‐change material encapsulated membrane offers more thermal resilience stability and safety than the conventional separators for batteries. ABSTRACT Thermal runaway in lithium‐ion batteries arises from the intrinsic coupling between heat generation and ion transport, yet conventional shutdown separators primarily rely on passive pore collapse

An inter-comparison of far-infrared line-by-line radiative transfer models

open access: yes, 2005
A considerable fraction (>40%) of the outgoing longwave radiation escapes from the Earth's atmosphere-surface system within a region of the spectrum known as the far-infrared (wave-numbers less than ).

Domain Engineering and Anisotropic Domain‐Wall Photovoltaic Effects in Ferroelectric SnS

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The bulk photovoltaic effect at domain walls in the in‐plane ferroelectric 2D semiconductor SnS is investigated using periodic domain structures. Unlike conventional oxide ferroelectrics, domain walls of SnS do not contribute to photocurrent generation perpendicular to the domain walls.

On inverse boundary-condition problems in radiative transfer

open access: yes, 1997
Some elementary computations are reported to suggest that a certain type of inverse boundary-condition problem in radiative transfer can, in some cases, be solved quite ...

Parallel Computation of Radiative Heat Transfer in High-Temperature Nozzles Based on Null-Collision Monte Carlo Method and Full-Spectrum Correlated k-Distribution Model

open access: yesEnergies
The high-temperature engine nozzle is a critical component of a rocket motor, and its stability and performance are significantly influenced by internal high-temperature gas radiative heat transfer. Due to the non-gray nature of the nozzle medium and the

Radiative transfer equation for media with spatially varying refractive index

open access: yes, 2014
The radiative transfer equation is fundamental to multiple physical applications based on light propagation. There have been three different formulations of the radiative transfer equation for media with spatially varying refractive index.

Direct Integration of Conductive, Emissive Perovskite Nanocrystals Into Efficient Light‐Emitting Diodes Without Post‐Synthetic Ligand Exchange

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We demonstrate the direct integration of CsPbBr3 perovskite nanocrystals (PNCs) into optoelectronic devices without post‐synthetic ligand exchange. This is achieved by synthesizing PNCs stabilized by strong‐binding‐energy oleylammonium–bromide pairs instead of oleate ligands. The resultant low ligand density and minimized surface defects enhance charge
