Spherical Harmonics for the 1D Radiative Transfer Equation. II. Thermal Emission

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Approximate methods for radiative transfer equations that are fast, reliable, and accurate are essential for the understanding of atmospheres of exoplanets and brown dwarfs.

Inversion of the radiative transfer equation for polarized light

open access: yesLiving Reviews in Solar Physics, 2016
Since the early 1970s, inversion techniques have become the most useful tool for inferring the magnetic, dynamic, and thermodynamic properties of the solar atmosphere.

Diffusion of light in turbid media with internal reflections

open access: yesCondensed Matter Physics, 2023
We relate the the Kubelka-Munk equations for the description of the intensity transfer of light in turbid media to a one-dimensional diffusion equation, which is obtained by averaging the three-dimensional diffusion equation over the lateral directions ...

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

Computational Aspects of Radiative Transfer Equation in Non-Orthogonal Coordinates

open access: yesJournal of Thermal Engineering, 2019
Non-equilibrium energy transfer takes place for thin films when thermal disturbance is introduced. In this case, phonon transport inside the film governs the heat transport and temperature distribution in the film. In the present study an attempt is made

A GPU-Accelerated Radiation Transfer Model Using the Lattice Boltzmann Method

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2021
A prototype of a three-dimensional (3-D) radiation model is developed using the lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) and implemented on a graphical processing unit (GPU) to accelerate the model’s computational speed.

Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.

Optimizing photoactivation of PA‐mCherry for optical pooled CRISPR screens

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Photoactivatable PA‐mCherry finds widespread use to optically tag individual cells. However, confocal 405 nm UV laser‐scanning (normal scan) is much less efficient than widefield UV illumination, limiting the use of PA‐mCherry on confocal instruments. We remedy this limitation by reporting that rapid and repeated confocal scanning with a low‐intensity,

The Existence and Behavior of Solutions for Nonlocal Boundary Problems

open access: yesBoundary Value Problems, 2009
The purpose of this work is to investigate the uniqueness and existence of local solutions for the boundary value problem of a quasilinear parabolic equation. The result is obtained via the abstract theory of maximal regularity. Applications are given to

Versatile vector tools for efficient protein screening across multiple expression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
A unified vector toolkit enables rapid protein expression screening across E. coli, insect, and mammalian cells. A single primer pair amplifies the target gene, which is inserted into any vector via a standardized interface. This streamlined workflow eliminates repeated cloning steps, accelerating the identification of optimal expression conditions for
