Radical-Mediated Anti-Markovnikov Hydrophosphonation of Olefins [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The radical-mediated addition of triphenylphosphonium tetrafluoroborate to olefins (hydrophosphonation) is reported. Both standard radical initiators and photochemical conditions are effective, up to the gram scale.

Type Radicals [PDF]

open access: yesGlasgow Mathematical Journal, 1968
The lower radical of a module type. For a ring R with unit, the module type t(R) was defined in [6] as follows: t(0) = 0; t(R) = d if every free R-module has invariant rank; t(R) = (c, k) for integers c, k ≧ 1 if every free R-module of rank < c has invariant rank, while a free module of rank h ≧ c has rank h + nk for any integer n ≧ 0.

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

From Structure to Vulnerability: Mitochondrial Supercomplexes in Cancer Cells

open access: yesCells
Mitochondrial respiratory supercomplexes are emerging as key regulators of bioenergetics, redox homeostasis, and metabolic plasticity in cancer. Their assembly enhances electron transport efficiency, limits reactive oxygen species production, and ...

A Manifesto for Radical Children’s Literature (and an Argument Against Radical Aesthetics)

open access: yesBarnboken: Tidskrift för Barnlitteraturforskning, 2019
In The Avant-Garde and American Postmodernity: Small Incisive Shocks (2002), I took for granted that an avant-garde for children was both possible and critically viable.

Gender Identities and Feminism [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Many feminists (e.g. T. Bettcher and B. R. George) argue for a principle of first person authority (FPA) about gender, i.e. that we should (at least) not disavow people's gender self-categorisations.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

An Investigation of the Effect of Charge Inhomogeneity on the Ignition and Combustion Processes in a HCCI Engine Using Chemiluminescence Imaging

open access: yesJournal of Thermal Science and Technology, 2007
In the HCCI (Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition) engines, inhomogeneity in fuel distribution and temperature in the pre-mixture exists microscopically and has possibility to affect the ignition and combustion process.
