Prognostic significance of tumor microenvironment assessed by machine learning algorithm in surgically resected non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesCancer Reports, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract Background A methodology to assess the immune microenvironment (IME) of non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) has not been established, and the prognostic impact of IME factors is not yet clear. Aims This study aimed to assess the IME factors and evaluate their prognostic values. Methods and Results We assessed CD8+ tumor‐infiltrating lymphocyte (

Effect of replanning boost radiotherapy plan in locally advanced unresectable middle to lower thoracic esophageal cancer

open access: yesScientific Reports
Thoracic bulky esophageal cancer shrinks during radiotherapy, changing the location and shape of the surrounding heart and lungs. The current study aimed to explore how replanning by volumetric-modulated arc radiotherapy (VMAT) and three-dimensional ...

Impact of Treatment Technique on Testicular Dose and Sexual Activity in Rectal Cancer Patients

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Oncology
Objective To estimate the incidental radiation dose delivered to the testicles in three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy (3DCRT), intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), and volumetric-modulated arc therapy (VMAT) in rectal cancer patients ...

Comparison of conformal radiotherapy, intensity-modulated radiotherapy and tomotherapy irradiation techniques in prostate cancers

open access: yes, 2019
Aim The aim of this study is to compare three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy (3D-CRT), intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) and tomotherapy techniques used in the treatment of prostate cancer with target and critical organ doses to be included ...

Flash Assembloids: A Rapid Biofabrication of a Platform for Modeling Early Glioblastoma Invasion at the Glioblastoma–Brain Organoid Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a bioengineered assembloid (ASM) system combining glioblastoma (GBM) cells in oxidized alginate (OA) microgels with dorsal organoids (DOs). This model simulates brain tumor‐host interactions, revealing enhanced GBM invasion, altered gene expression, and aggressive infiltration patterns, demonstrating ASM as a valuable platform for ...

Feasibility of 2D‑conformal radiotherapy for pancreatic carcinoma

open access: yesOncology Letters, 2018
The purpose of the present study was to propose an optimized 2D technique (2D-conformal) for radiotherapy (RT) of pancreatic cancer (CaP). This technique is based on double simulation which resolves the problems of radiographic image distortion. Five patients with locally advanced CaP were identified and enrolled.

A Microbial Lipid‐ATP Synthase Axis Fuels NK Cell Antitumor Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study focuses on the mechanism by which gut microbiota‐derived outer membrane vesicles (OMVs) regulate NK cell antitumor activity. B. intestinalis is identified to decrease extra‐intestinal tumor growth via its OMVs enriched in sphingosine (SP).

β‐Elemene Rescues Radiation‐Induced Enteritis by Orchestrating a Host‐Microbiome Circuit That Fuels Epigenetic DNA Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study elucidates that β‐elemene promotes cellular uptake of L. gasseri‐derived lactate by enhancing the membrane translocation of MCT1 in a CD147‐dependent manner. Intracellular lactate, through the lactylation of RBBP4 at the K26 site, recruits EP300 to the promoter regions of downstream genes (POLD1/POLD3), catalyzing H3K27ac modification.

CT-PET guided target delineation in head and neck cancer and implications for improved outcome

open access: yes, 2010
Aim: Fifty percent of patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the Head and Neck develop loco-regional recurrence after treatment. Factors leading to this failure are most likely altered intra-tumoural glucose metabolism and increased hypoxia ...
