Detecting homologous recombination deficiency for breast cancer through integrative analysis of genomic data

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study develops a semi‐supervised classifier integrating multi‐genomic data (1404 training/5893 validation samples) to improve homologous recombination deficiency (HRD) detection in breast cancer. Our method demonstrates prognostic value and predicts chemotherapy/PARP inhibitor sensitivity in HRD+ tumours.

Intranasal melanoma treated with radiation therapy in three dogs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Three dogs were investigated for chronic unilateral nasal discharge. In all cases CT imaging showed an intranasal mass causing turbinate lysis and no evidence of metastasis.

Radiomics based targeted radiotherapy planning (Rad-TRaP): a computational framework for prostate cancer treatment planning with MRI

open access: yesRadiation Oncology, 2016
Radiomics or computer – extracted texture features have been shown to achieve superior performance than multiparametric MRI (mpMRI) signal intensities alone in targeting prostate cancer (PCa) lesions. Radiomics along with deformable co-registration tools

Development of 4T1 breast cancer mouse model system for preclinical carbonic anhydrase IX studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Carbonic anhydrase IX (CAIX) is a well‐recognised therapeutic target and prognostic biomarker in cancer. We developed and characterised a robust murine breast cancer model system that is suitable for CAIX studies in vitro and in vivo—it comprises both CAIX‐positive and CAIX‐negative controls and provides a solid platform for the comprehensive ...

Conventional radiotherapy planning of cervical cancer in resource-constrained set-up: Utilizing soldering lead wire to delineate radiotherapy portal

open access: yesGynecologic Oncology Reports, 2020
Simulator for radiotherapy planning may not be available in resource-constrained set-up. Surface anatomy based planning has its own limitation in terms of adequately covering target due to variation of anatomy and tumor growth and spread pattern.

Dosimetric comparison study between intensity modulated radiation therapy and three-dimensional conformal proton therapy for pelvic bone marrow sparing in the treatment of cervical cancer. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The objective was to compare intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) with 3D conformal proton therapy (3DCPT) in the treatment of cervical cancer. In particular, each technique's ability to spare pelvic bone marrow (PBM) was of primary interest in ...

Personalized Radiotherapy Planning Based on a Computational Tumor Growth Model

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging, 2017
In this article, we propose a proof of concept for the automatic planning of personalized radiotherapy for brain tumors. A computational model of glioblastoma growth is combined with an exponential cell survival model to describe the effect of ...

Template-based automation of treatment planning in advanced radiotherapy: a comprehensive dosimetric and clinical evaluation

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2020
Despite the recent advanced developments in radiation therapy planning, treatment planning for head-neck and pelvic cancers remains challenging due to large concave target volumes, multiple dose prescriptions and numerous organs at risk close to targets.

Clinical implementation of magnetic resonance imaging simulation for radiation oncology planning: 5 year experience

open access: yesRadiation Oncology, 2023
Purpose Integrating magnetic resonance (MR) into radiotherapy planning has several advantages. This report details the clinical implementation of an MR simulation (MR-planning) program for external beam radiotherapy (EBRT) in one of North America's ...

Explicit optimization of plan quality measures in intensity-modulated radiation therapy treatment planning

open access: yes, 2016
Conventional planning objectives in optimization of intensity-modulated radiotherapy treatment (IMRT) plans are designed to minimize the violation of dose-volume histogram (DVH) thresholds using penalty functions.
