Raf kinase inhibitory protein (RKIP): A physiological regulator and future therapeutic target

Expert Opinion on Therapeutic Targets, 2008
Raf kinase inhibitory protein (RKIP) belongs to the phosphatidylethanolamine binding protein (PEBP) family that is expressed in both prokaryotic and euakaryotic organisms. In this review, we discuss the role of RKIP as a modulator of signal transduction, the relationship of RKIP to other members of the PEBP family, and the role of RKIP in human health ...

Raf Kinase Inhibitory Protein Role in the Molecular Subtyping of Breast Cancer

Journal of Cellular Biochemistry, 2014
ABSTRACTIn this study, we examined the association between the RKIP expression and the molecular subtypes of breast cancer. Microarray gene expression data of 2,333 human breast cancer from 26 different cohorts performed on Affymetrix U133A or U133Plus2 platforms were downloaded from Array Express and Gene Expression Omnibus and the molecular subtype ...

Protective Effect of Raf-1 Kinase Inhibitory Protein on Diabetic Retinal Neurodegeneration through P38-MAPK Pathway

Current Eye Research, 2021
This study aimed to investigate the effect of Raf-1 kinase inhibitory protein (RKIP) on diabetic retinal neurodegeneration in streptozotocin-treated rat model and high glucose-treated rat Müller cells.Control and streptozotocin-treated rats were intravitreally injected with saline, RKIP gene overexpression lentivirus (oeRKIP) or negative control ...

Expression of Raf-1 kinase inhibitory protein in carcinoma of the ampulla of Vater

Virchows Archiv, 2011
Raf-1 kinase inhibitor protein (RKIP) has emerged as a significant metastatic suppressor in a variety of human malignancies. We have recently demonstrated that reduced expression of RKIP is significantly associated with invasion and metastasis in periampullary carcinomas, including pancreatic carcinoma, gallbladder carcinoma, and extrahepatic bile duct

Frequent Alteration of the Yin Yang 1/Raf-1 Kinase Inhibitory Protein Ratio in Hepatocellular Carcinoma

OMICS: A Journal of Integrative Biology, 2011
Abstract The transcription factor Yin Yang 1 (YY1) can favor several aspects of tumorigenesis. In turn, Raf-1 Kinase Inhibitor Protein (RKIP) inhibits the oncogenic activities of MAPK and NF-κB pathways and promotes drug-induced apoptosis.

Yin Yang 1 and raf-1 Kinase Inhibitory Protein Status in Hepatocellular carcinoma: Future Perspectives

Forum on Immunopathological Diseases and Therapeutics, 2010
We focus on to the role of the transcription factors NF-κB and Yin Yang 1 (YY1) and of Raf-1 kinase inhibitory protein (RKIP) in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). YY1, whose expression is enhanced by NF-κB, favors tumorigenesis. RKIP inhibits the oncogenic activities of MAPK and NF-κB pathways and promotes drug-induced apoptosis.

Discovery of Anti-metastatic Therapies Guided by the Physiological Suppressor Raf Kinase Inhibitory Protein

2019
Metastatic progression of tumors is the major cause of death in patients with triple neg- ative breast cancer (TNBC). However, since metastasis is a multi-step process, unraveling its complexity is a major challenge. One eective way of tackling this question is to study natural blockers of the metastatic process, metastasis suppressors, and identify
