Identification of raffinose in honeydew
Experientia, 1984The presence of small amounts of raffinose in the honeydew of 6 aphid species was demonstrated by means of TLC and GLC after invertase hydrolysis. The method allows the detection of this sugar even in the presence of a high percentage of melezitose.

Leguminosae in the diet: The raffinose-stachyose question
European Journal of Pediatrics, 1995Adhering to a galactose-free diet by strictly avoiding dairy products and known hidden sources of galac-tose does not completely normalize galactose-1-phosphate (gal-1-P) in erythrocytes from patients with galactosemia. Major neurological complications, even in the best treated patients, are threatening a good clinical outcome and dictate a continuous ...

The Raffinose Family of Oligosaccharides
1954Publisher Summary This chapter discusses raffinose and those saccharides which are related to raffinose by virtue of having one or more α-D-galactopyranosyl groups in their structures. These D-galactosyl groups are found in nature joined to sugars, such as D-glucose, to sucrose, to certain polysaccharides, and to a few non-sugars, such as glycerol ...

Selective tritylation and mesitylenesulphonylation of raffinose
Carbohydrate Research, 1977Abstract Raffinose reacted with 3 molar equivalents of trityl chloride in pyridine to give a complex mixture of products from which 1′,6′,6″-tri-O-tritylraffinose 1 was isolated (20%) after chromatography, and characterised as the crystalline octa-acetate and octabenzoate. The octabenzoate was detritylated in methanolic 1% hydrogen chloride, without
