RAFT-mediated polymerization-induced self-assembly of poly(ionic liquid) block copolymers in a green solvent

open access: yese-Polymers
Synthesis of the poly(N,N-dimethylacrylamide)-b-poly(1-alkyl-3-(4-vinylbenzyl)imidazolium tetrafluoroborate) (PDMA43-b-PILx) block copolymers prepared by RAFT ethanol dispersion polymerization at 70°C.

Nanoscopic substructures of raft-mimetic liquid-ordered membrane domains revealed by high-speed single-particle tracking

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2016
Lipid rafts are membrane nanodomains that facilitate important cell functions. Despite recent advances in identifying the biological significance of rafts, nature and regulation mechanism of rafts are largely unknown due to the difficulty of resolving ...

The Strategic Defence Review is an incoherent mess of stalled (but unresolved) decision making: it creates future problems that will not go away [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This week’s review of Britain’s defence spending is the opening salvo of the coalition’s plans to review spending across government. David Cameron and George Osborne have walked a finely balanced line of compromise to appease the defence establishment ...

Tumor Extracellular Vesicles Aggravate Mitochondrial Damage in Myocardial Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals a novel mechanistic connection between cancer and ischemia/reperfusion (I/R)‐induced cardiac injury. The meta‐analysis demonstrates significantly higher incidence ratios of both all‐cause mortality and cardiovascular mortality in cancer patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) compared to non‐cancer patients.

Bacteroides Fragilis‐Derived Outer Membrane Vesicles Deliver MiR‐5119 and Alleviate Colitis by Targeting PD‐L1 to Inhibit GSDMD‐Mediated Neutrophil Extracellular Trap Formation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Bacteroides fragilis‐derived outer membrane vesicles deliver miR‐5119 and alleviate colitis by targeting PD‐L1 to inhibit GSDMD‐mediated neutrophil extracellular trap formation. Abstract Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) results from a breakdown in the symbiotic relationship between the intestinal commensal microflora and the mucosal immune system.
