Modeling of rain attenuation using equiprobability of rain fade and rain fall

2015 International Conference on Computer, Communication and Control (IC4), 2015
Proposed work shows the modeling of rain attenuation. This modeling is based on rain rate versus rain attenuation characteristics by using equiprobability. Total three years data of signal and rain is used in this work. Data includes the information of received signal strength from IPSTAR satellite and rain fall data.

Rain attenuation predicted with a two‐layer rain model

European Transactions on Telecommunications, 1991
AbstractThe paper presents a new prediction model of rain attenuation in slant paths; it models the precipitation with two layers of constant vertical precipitation rate. The relationship between the rain‐rate in the first layer above the ground (layer A) and the apparent precipitation rate (defined in the paper) in the second layer (layer B, which ...

Cumulative Distribution of Rain Rate and Rain Attenuation in Ukraine

2019 3rd International Conference on Advanced Information and Communications Technologies (AICT), 2019
The estimates of communication outages along slant Earth-Space links and near-surface links in the worst periods of the year were made for the first time on the territory of Ukraine with usage a consideration of microclimatic point of view. These calculations were based on the cycle of continuous rain rate observations as well as of experimental ...

A rain attenuation model for the SIRIO‐SHF experiment

Atmosphere-Ocean, 1982
Abstract Rain attenuation statistics at 11.6 GHz and 32° elevation angle deduced from one complete year of measurements near Milan are compared with the statistics obtained from a model storm and surface measurements of the rainfall rate. Two different assumed vertical profiles of rain are able to reproduce the attenuation statistics but each of the ...

Rain Attenuation in Broadband Satellite

2007 Asia-Pacific Conference on Communications, 2007
This paper presented the effects of attenuation from rain rate together with rain drop size distribution analysis on the model of transmitter broadband satellite in Ka-band frequency. We illustrated a new model by simulating transmission broadband signal and studied the rain attenuation which has effects to high frequency. The results of the model were

ATTENUATION OF LASER RADIATION IN RAIN

Электросвязь, 2021
Рассматривается ослабление волн видимого и инфракрасного диапазонов в дождях. Показано, что ослабление ; увеличивается при наличии поглощения в капле. Attenuation of visible and infrared waves in rain is considered.

Rain Attenuation and Radio Path Design

Bell System Technical Journal, 1970
This paper describes the application of the rain attenuation theory of Ryde and Ryde to the design of Radio Systems. It shows that an upper bound on the outage time due to rain attenuation can be computed from a measured point rain rate distribution. The paper also describes a suitable rain gauge.

Rain Attenuation at Millimeter Wavelengths

International Journal of Infrared and Millimeter Waves, 2002
A method of determining the rationality for raindrop size distribution is first presented. The relative volume occupied by raindrops is derived. The attenuation and cross-polar discrimination induced by rainfall at millimeter waves are investigated with the incoming expression and a brief analysis is presented.

Rain Attenuation Studies

1973
Abstract : The statistical properties of rain attenuation which dominate propogation at frequencies above 10 GHz are required for planning radio systems at these frequencies. These properties are studied for three frequencies, 11.2, 12.7 and 18.76 GHz and various link lengths, 2.5, 5, 7.5, 10, 12.5 and 15 mi at six locations in Canada.

Rain attenuation measurements in Malaysia

2015 1st URSI Atlantic Radio Science Conference (URSI AT-RASC), 2015
Within a research programme dealing with the development of a 5.8 GHz link to be used as redundancy for a 26 GHz terrestrial point-to-point microwave link in the equatorial region, two problems are discussed in this paper. a) Drop size distribution (DSD) and the associated specific rain attenuation and b) Frequency scaling of rain attenuation ...
