A Magnet-Coil-Type Bistable Vibration Energy Harvester for Random Wave Environment

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2022
In this study, a new bistable vibration energy harvesting system is developed by originally proposing a bistable vibration model comprising a spring and a mass block and then applying a vibration generator composed of a coil and a magnet.

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Very High Incidence of Type 1 Diabetes Among Children Aged Under 15 Years in Tlemcen, Northwest Algeria (2015-2018)

open access: yesJCRPE, 2021
Objective:In Algeria, there is a lack of epidemiological data concerning childhood type 1 diabetes (T1D). The International Diabetes Federation estimated in 2019 that Algeria ranked 7th among countries with the highest prevalence of T1D. This study aimed

Survival of Branching Random Walks in Random Environment [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Theoretical Probability, 2009
We study survival of nearest-neighbour branching random walks in random environment (BRWRE) on ${\mathbb Z}$. A priori there are three different regimes of survival: global survival, local survival, and strong local survival. We show that local and strong local survival regimes coincide for BRWRE and that they can be characterized with the spectral ...

Random walk on nonnegative integers in beta distributed random environment

open access: yes, 2022
We consider random walks on the nonnegative integers in a space-time dependent random environment. We assume that transition probabilities are given by independent $\mathrm{Beta}(\mu,\mu)$ distributed random variables, with a specific behaviour at the ...

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Are Random Drift and Natural Selection Conceptually Distinct? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
The latter half of the twentieth century has been marked by debates in evolutionary biology over the relative significance of natural selection and random drift: the so-called neutralist/selectionist debates.

Edge reinforced random walk on Galton-Watson trees

open access: yes, 2023
reservedConsider a random walk in a graph and introduce a reinforcement on the edges so that the ones already traversed are more likely to be traversed in the future. We call such a process edge reinforced random walk (ERRW).

Proteasome inhibitor, ixazomib prevents topoisomerase‐I degradation and reverses irinotecan resistance in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ixazomib inhibits proteasome‐mediated degradation of topoisomerase I induced by irinotecan, thereby restoring drug sensitivity and promoting tumor cell death in colorectal cancer. Irinotecan, a topoisomerase I (topoI) inhibitor, is widely used for colorectal cancer, but resistance remains a major clinical challenge.

Cut points and diffusive random walks in random environment

open access: yes, 2003
We study in this work a special class of multidimensional random walks in random environment for which we are able to prove in a non-perturbative fashion both a law of large numbers and a functional central limit theorem. As an application we provide new
