Long‐term hippocampal alterations and cognitive impairment in a murine model of surgical sepsis
Using a mouse model of surgical sepsis, we tested long‐term memory and analyzed the transcriptome of single cells isolated from the hippocampus. Survivor mice showed worse memory, loss of certain brain cell subpopulations, and abnormal immune cell activity—suggesting that post‐sepsis brain alterations may be linked to cognitive deficits.

The dFoCC pipeline starts with observed DED and resting‐state coordinates, which are then used to generate a library of triggered states. Correlation analysis of the calculated DED features of each candidate vs observed DED permits quantitative evaluation of candidate structural quality.

FAMILIAR AND FAVORITE SITES IN A RANDOM UTILITY MODEL OF BEACH RECREATION [PDF]
We estimate a random utility model of recreation demand accounting for choice set familiarity and favorite sites. Our approach differs from existing approaches by retaining all sites in estimating the parameters of site utility.

Acute caffeine treatment protects the developing retina from ischemia‐induced cell death
Caffeine reduces cell death in the developing retina under ischemia (OGD). This effect does not involve BDNF upregulation or antioxidant pathways (NRF2/VEGF). Neuroprotection occurs mainly through adenosine A2A receptor antagonism, decreasing glutamate release and excitotoxicity, highlighting caffeine's potential as an acute neuroprotective agent in ...

Random locations, ordered random sets and stationarity
Intrinsic location functional is a large class of random locations containing locations that one may encounter in many cases, e.g., the location of the path supremum/infimum over a given interval, the first/last hitting time, etc. It has been shown that this notion is very closely related to stationary stochastic processes, and can be used to ...

Pharmacological inhibition of PERK in a DEN‐induced mouse model of liver cancer does not reduce tumor burden but alters cellular stress signaling. Despite blocking PERK activity, downstream stress responses, including CHOP expression, remain active, suggesting compensatory mechanisms within the unfolded protein response that may influence tumor ...

Early‐life exposure to a high‐fat diet altered intact Achilles tendons in rat offspring, making them thinner, stiffer, and molecularly distinct even without injury. These findings suggest that developmental high‐fat diet exposure may impair tendon quality and increase susceptibility to mechanical overload or tendon injury later in life.

Synchronization in random networks with given expected degree sequences [PDF]
Synchronization in random networks with given expected degree sequences is studied. We also investigate in details the synchronization in networks whose topology is described by classical random graphs, power-law random graphs and hybrid graphs when N ...
