Sub-trees of a random tree

open access: yesDiscrete Applied Mathematics, 2019
Let $T$ be a random tree taken uniformly at random from the family of labelled trees on $n$ vertices. In this note, we provide bounds for $c(n)$, the number of sub-trees of $T$ that hold asymptotically almost surely. With computer support we show that $1.41805386^n \le c(n) \le 1.41959881^n$. Moreover, there is a strong indication that, in fact, $c(n) \

Growth and structure of a young Aleppo pine planted forest after thinning for diversification and wildfire prevention

open access: yesForest Systems, 2013
Aim of study: In the Mediterranean, low timber-production forests are frequently thinned to promote biodiversity and reduce wildfire risk, but few studies in the region have addressed such goals.

Tumor mutational burden as a determinant of metastatic dissemination patterns

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study performed a comprehensive analysis of genomic data to elucidate whether metastasis in certain organs share genetic characteristics regardless of cancer type. No robust mutational patterns were identified across different metastatic locations and cancer types.

Multilevel Nonlinear Mixed-Effect Crown Ratio Models for Individual Trees of Mongolian Oak (Quercus mongolica) in Northeast China. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
In this study, an individual tree crown ratio (CR) model was developed with a data set from a total of 3134 Mongolian oak (Quercus mongolica) trees within 112 sample plots allocated in Wangqing Forest Bureau of northeast China.

Systemic T Cell Receptor Profiling Reveals Adaptive Immune Activation and Potential Immune Signatures of Diagnosis and Brain Atrophy in Epilepsy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Epilepsy is increasingly associated with immune dysregulation and inflammation. The T cell receptor (TCR), a key mediator of adaptive immunity, shows repertoire alterations in various immune‐mediated diseases. The unique TCR sequence serves as a molecular barcode for T cells, and clonal expansion accompanied by reduced overall TCR ...

Relapsing–Remitting Multiple Sclerosis Is Associated With a Dysbiotic Oral Microbiome

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic autoimmune disorder characterized by inflammation, demyelination, and neurological impairment. While the gut microbiota's role in MS is extensively studied, the association between the oral microbiota and MS remains underexplored, particularly in North American cohorts.

Predicting Epileptogenic Tubers in Patients With Tuberous Sclerosis Complex Using a Fusion Model Integrating Lesion Network Mapping and Machine Learning

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Accurate localization of epileptogenic tubers (ETs) in patients with tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) is essential but challenging, as these tubers lack distinct pathological or genetic markers to differentiate them from other cortical tubers.

Limits of Random Trees. II [PDF]

open access: yesActa Mathematica Hungarica, 2014
Local convergence of bounded degree graphs was introduced by Benjamini and Schramm. This result was extended further by Lyons to bounded average degree graphs. In this paper we study the convergence of random tree sequences with given degree distributions. Denote by ${\cal D}_n$ the set of possible degree sequences of a tree on $n$ nodes.
