Circulating tumor cells in metastatic breast cancer patients treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors – a biomarker analysis of the ALICE and ICON trials

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative biomarker analysis, we assessed serial sampling of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) with CellSearch in two randomized trials testing immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) in metastatic breast cancer. Our data demonstrate a prognostic potential of CTCs, most apparent 4 weeks into ICI therapy.

Commonotonicity and $L^1$ Random Variables [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
It is proved that in suitable filtrations every pair of integrable random variables is the conditional expectation of a pair of commonotone integrable random variables.

Cellular liquid biopsy provides unique chances for disease monitoring, preclinical model generation and therapy adjustment in rare salivary gland cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We quantified and cultured circulating tumor cells (CTCs) of 62 patients with various cancer types and generated CTC‐derived tumoroid models from two salivary gland cancer patients. Cellular liquid biopsy‐derived information enabled molecular genetic assessment of systemic disease heterogeneity and functional testing for therapy selection in both ...

Random walk in random environment and their time-reversed counterpart [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
The random walk in Dirichlet environment is a random walk in random environment where the transition probabilities are independent Dirichlet random variables. This random walk exhibits a property of statistical invariance by time-reversal which leads to several results.

Combined spatially resolved metabolomics and spatial transcriptomics reveal the mechanism of RACK1‐mediated fatty acid synthesis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The authors analyzed the spatial distributions of gene and metabolite profiles in cervical cancer through spatial transcriptomic and spatially resolved metabolomic techniques. Pivotal genes and metabolites within these cases were then identified and validated.

Compressed Random Variables in a Graph W*-Probability Space [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2005
In this paper, we will consider the free probabilistic information about compressed random variables in a graph W*-Probability space. Recall the diagonal compressed random variables in a graph W*-probability space. In particular, we can see that the free moments and cumulants of the fixed compressed random variable of a random variable x are exactly ...

On some characterizations of probability distributions based on maxima or minima of some families of dependent random variables [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Most of the characterizations of probability distributions are based on properties of functions of possibly independent random variables. We investigate characterizations of probability distributions through properties of minima or maxima of max-independent, min-independent and quasi-independent random variables generalizing the results from ...

Response to Johnson: A random sample versus the radical event

open access: yesFinance and Society, 2016
Timothy Johnson's working hypothesis in his review of my latest book, The Medium of Contingency, is that I (as well as the ‘quants’ involved in the derivative pricing industry) do not understand the foundations of abstract probability theory.

Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) trajectories predict survival in trifluridine/tipiracil‐treated metastatic colorectal cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The authors applied joint/mixed models that predict mortality of trifluridine/tipiracil‐treated metastatic colorectal cancer patients based on circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) trajectories. Patients at high risk of death could be spared aggressive therapy with the prospect of a higher quality of life in their remaining lifetime, whereas patients with a ...

Construction of Benford Random Variables: Generators and Seed Functions [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
In this paper I describe two general methods of constructing a probability density function (pdf) of a Benford random variable, and show that the pdf of every Benford random variable may be constructed by these methods. These constructions are helpful in exploring the nature of Benford random variables, and may be used to investigate some issues of ...
