Numerical studies of planar closed random walks

open access: yes, 2008
Lattice numerical simulations for planar closed random walks and their winding sectors are presented. The frontiers of the random walks and of their winding sectors have a Hausdorff dimension $d_H=4/3$.

Range-Controlled Random Walks

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2023
We introduce range-controlled random walks with hopping rates depending on the range $\mathcal{N}$, that is, the total number of previously distinct visited sites. We analyze a one-parameter class of models with a hopping rate $\mathcal{N}^a$ and determine the large time behavior of the average range, as well as its complete distribution in two limit ...

On multiple-particle continuous-time random walks

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2004
Scaling limits of continuous-time random walks are used in physics to model anomalous diffusion in which particles spread at a different rate than the classical Brownian motion.

Feasibility and Preliminary Efficacy of Integrative Neuromuscular Training for Childhood Cancer Survivors: A Pilot Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Survivors of childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) often exhibit early deficits in muscle and movement competence, which can compromise long‐term health. Integrative neuromuscular training (INT), a multifaceted approach combining fundamental movement activities with strength exercises, may help address these deficits during ...

Group Recommendations: Axioms, Impossibilities, and Random Walks [PDF]

open access: yesElectronic Proceedings in Theoretical Computer Science, 2017
We introduce an axiomatic approach to group recommendations, in line of previous work on the axiomatic treatment of trust-based recommendation systems, ranking systems, and other foundational work on the axiomatic approach to internet mechanisms in ...

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Branching Random Walks with Ageing

open access: yesMathematics
Branching processes are stochastic models describing the evolution of populations in which individuals reproduce and die independently over time. In the classical setting, an individual’s reproductive capacity is fixed throughout its lifetime.
