A RANDOMNESS‐BASED THEODICY FOR EVOLUTIONARY EVILS
We develop and knit together several theodicies in order to find a more complete picture of why certain forms of (nonhuman) animal suffering might be permitted by a perfect being.

Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

Randomness Representation of Turbulence in Canopy Flows Using Kolmogorov Complexity Measures
Turbulence is often expressed in terms of either irregular or random fluid flows, without quantification. In this paper, a methodology to evaluate the randomness of the turbulence using measures based on the Kolmogorov complexity (KC) is proposed.

Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches. Randomness of Eigenstates of Many-Body Quantum Systems
The emergence of random eigenstates of quantum many-body systems in integrable-chaos transitions is the underlying mechanism of thermalization for these quantum systems.

This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Combining osimertinib with the STING agonist ADU‐S100 activates innate and adaptive immunity to overcome the non‐inflamed microenvironment of Egfr‐mutant lung cancer. This combination increases NK and CD8+ T‐cell infiltration, associated with activation of the STING‐IRF3 pathway and local immunogenic cell death.

Random Walks in a Random Environment
Let $\{\alpha_n\}$ be a sequence of independent, identically distributed random variables with $0 \leqq \alpha_n \leqq 1$ for all $n$. The random walk in a random environment on the integers is the sequence $\{X_n\}$ where $X_0 = 0$ and inductively $X_{n+1} = X_n + 1, (X_n - 1)$, with probability $\alpha_{X_n}, (1 - \alpha_{X_n})$.
