The solidification characteristics of near rapid and supercooling directional solidification [PDF]
In the comparison of the solidification characteristics of supercooling directional solidification (SDS) with constrained directional solidification (DS) and with the consideration of the inheritance of supercooled melt, the SDS technique established with the combination of melt supercooling and traditional DS was proposed.

ABSTRACT Purpose Next‐generation sequencing (NGS) has emerged as a promising approach to improve diagnostic accuracy, but its feasibility in low‐ and middle‐income countries remains unknown. This study characterized the diagnostic landscape and assessed organizational readiness for NGS implementation at two childhood cancer treatment centers in Accra ...

Capillary-wave description of rapid directional solidification [PDF]
A recently introduced capillary-wave description of binary-alloy solidification is generalized to include the procedure of directional solidification. For a class of model systems a universal dispersion relation of the unstable eigenmodes of a planar steady-state solidification front is derived, which readjusts previously known stability considerations.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.
