Loglinear Rasch Model Tests [PDF]

open access: yesPsychometrika, 1984
Existing statistical tests for the fit of the Rasch model have been criticized, because they are only sensitive to specific violations of its assumptions. Contingency table methods using loglinear models have been used to test various psychometric models.

A diagnostic score for anti‐myelin‐associated‐glycoprotein neuropathy or chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy in patients with anti‐myelin‐associated‐glycoprotein antibody

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neurology, Volume 30, Issue 2, Page 501-510, February 2023., 2023
In this study, Doneddu et al. developed a score that permitted an accurate discrimination, amongst patients with anti‐myelin‐associated‐glycoprotein (anti‐MAG) antibodies, of patients with chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy (CIDP) and patients with anti‐MAG neuropathy.

Correlation between patient‐reported manual ability and three objective measures of upper limb function in people with multiple sclerosis

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neurology, Volume 30, Issue 1, Page 172-178, January 2023., 2023
Abstract Background and purpose Upper limb (UL) function is often affected in people with multiple sclerosis (PwMS) and is typically assessed through objective measures, including the Nine Hole Peg Test (9‐HPT), Box and Block Test (BBT), and Hand Grip Strength (HGS). It is important to include the subjective perspective of PwMS in the assessment.

Analysis of biology midterm exam items using a comparison of the classical theory test and the Rasch model

open access: yesJPBI (Jurnal Pendidikan Biologi Indonesia)
In biology learning, test instruments are essential for assessing students' understanding of complex concepts. A test instrument is a crucial factor in learning evaluation; however, its implementation remains minimal.

Device Specifications for Neural Network Training with Analog Resistive Cross‐Point Arrays Using Tiki‐Taka Algorithms

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This study investigates the device specifications required for neural network training using analog resistive cross‐point arrays with the training algorithms. By demonstrating the robustness against non‐ideal update characteristics with these algorithms, it quantitatively shows how hardware‐aware training can relax device specifications.

Are Australian students' academic skills declining? Interrogating 25 years of national and international standardised assessment data

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Social Issues, EarlyView.
Abstract Standardised tests of academic basic skills are an established feature of contemporary Australian schooling. Assessment results are widely reported and directly influence educational policymaking. Furthermore, Australian national educational priorities are linked to educational system accountability via the results of standardised tests. Given

Can impact assessments tame legislative drift? Event history analysis of modifications of laws across Europe

open access: yesGovernance, Volume 36, Issue 1, Page 141-165, January 2023., 2023
Abstract Laws should endure and change only if assumed benefits don't materialize over time. Yet frequent modifications of laws shortly after their enactment distort this compromise between stability and change. While, Impact Assessments (IAs) are designed to improve the quality of legislation, we know little about IAs' impact on legal stability post ...

Algebraic geometry of Poisson regression [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Algebraic Statistics 7 (2016), pp. 29-44, 2015
Designing experiments for generalized linear models is difficult because optimal designs depend on unknown parameters. Here we investigate local optimality. We propose to study for a given design its region of optimality in parameter space. Often these regions are semi-algebraic and feature interesting symmetries.
